    It's been almost four weeks since the rebel incident. Because of said incident, Keith brought in a small group of teenagers to become guards in training. Eight new trainees in total, consisting of five betas and three alphas. One of them got in on recommendation since she's the younger sister of sir Caspian, who happens to be one of Marzipan's personal guards. Despite how he knew it'd look, he also accepted a galran boy into this small group of new trainees. Keith knows that a lot of people wouldn't approve of bringing in those two, claiming that they were just chosen purely because of favoritism.. But he truly believes that those two and the rest of their small group, has some real potential. Their personal guards will more or less take turns individually training the group of young trainees, hopefully resulting in them becoming well rounded.

    The kingdom celebrated princess Marzipan's first birthday by holding festivals all over the first altean kingdom, all of which was being done in her honor and would probably be done next deca-phoeb(year) too. She's still too little for things like parties so Keith decided he'd make this day as special as possible for her by spending the whole day with her, giving her his full and undivided attention. He really did try his best to make up for her dad's absence, knowing that it'd be hard to distract not only her but himself too from missing Lance. Keith felt conflicted when his daughter had taken her first steps, he was of course proud of her achievement but Lance would never be able to experience it for himself.

    Keith had broken into Alfor's office in his free time, finding journals stacked upon journals about his lifelong research and projects. The realization hit him that this could take a long while of reading to find the answers he was looking for, having little hope of making the training simulator safer and getting it back up and running again anytime soon. Whilst rummaging around in Alfor's office he had found quite a few loose pictures of the late king and Coran, as well as framed pictures of them with Allura and Lance. He didn't think much of it until he found one where Alfor was actively smooching Coran, a much younger version of Lance and Allura playing in the background of the photo. It all made a lot more sense to him now.. As to why Coran is so close to the royal family and why Coran had gotten so upset by the idea of the training simulator being destroyed. He decided to keep this new information to himself, not letting Coran know that he knows about him and Alfor's relationship.

    Lotor has been back once already to have srilus checked on and given more medicine for his son, he's due to come back again any day now for another check up. Even though Lotor is kind of annoying and a bit obnoxious sometimes, Keith finds himself oddly excited for his old friend to visit. He'd probably never admit it aloud, though. It'd definitely go to that alpha's head.

    The pains in Keith's chest have started up again recently, progressively getting more and more frequent and painful. Anytime he was in pain he tried not to react outwardly, not wanting the guards that were around him all the time to notice. During a particularly bad minute of chest pain he hadn't been able to hide it, causing the guards to worry and Marzipan to cry.

    Keith decided he wanted to eat lunch in Marzipan's room with Ria today, it's her turn to eat Lance's meal and she had just come back with the basket all flushed and wearing a big grin on her face. This caught both Keith and Griffin's attention and the two shared a knowing look as she sat down and started distributing their food. Calyx and Alrid were once again staying out in the hall to guard together, probably whispering sweet nothings when no one else was around. Griffin and Kosmo are sitting on the floor beside Marzi as she quietly plays, Kosmo eyeing her quizzically. Keith patiently waited until they were a few spoonfuls into their meal to start interrogating her. A few playful questions later and Saria eventually caved, excitedly sharing with him scattered details about one of the chefs in the castle she had recently taken a liking to.
