Keith's p.o.v:

Since he pretty much isolated himself from the rest of the household he had a lot of time to just sit with his thoughts, most of them unpleasant. Takashi had brought up his lunch a while ago and he would of brought down his own plate had he not worried about seeing Lance. All he could really do was wait and think. Keith's mind wandered as he lay there sprawled out on the unfamiliar bed he had spent the previous night on.

His thoughts were interrupted by the bedroom door opening, and it wasn't that he didn't want the company he just wasn't expecting any until it was time for dinner. Takashi walked in and sat on the edge of the bed, he wore a solemn expression. Keith sat up and reached for the notebook Takashi had given him the other day, then he wrote down 'What's wrong?'. He handed it over to Takashi to read, even though it shouldn't have taken him that long to read it Takashi just seemed to stare at the writing for a little longer then he should have.

"Well.. I've been thinking of how to tell you about what happened yesterday since breakfast, and I think I'm ready to do so if you're interested in hearing it right now. I can always tell you at a different time." Takashi explained as he gently handed the notebook back to him. Keith nodded and set the notebook on the bed beside him, ready to listen. He was really nervous because he was sure it had something to do with back home and things weren't exactly going well back home even before they had left for earth. In fact the rebel attack at Allura's Birthday Ball was the reason for their spur of the moment get away to earth in the first place, Lance had said it was a 'good way to take our minds off of this for a while'.

Takashi took a deep breath as if he was already dreading the words that were still unspoken. "No amount of time could prepare me for this conversation but it needs to be said, you have a right to know what's happened." Takashi paused, seeming as if he himself might tear up in this moment. "...King Alfor has been assassinated." Takashi stated quietly as he slowly turned his head to meet Keith's shocked gaze.

Keith grabbed Takashi by his shirt collar, seemingly out of anger but he just desperately needed Takashi to repeat himself but lacked the ability to use his damned voice due to the command he was given. Takashi gently set his hand over both of Keith's hands that were still gripping his shirt collar, not breaking eye contact. Keith desperately mouthed the word 'r e p e a t' as tears started to stream down his face, he had heard Takashi the first time but he didn't want to believe that nice man had truly been killed. It was cruel to ask him to repeat that fact but he needed to hear it. "King Alfor was assassinated by a Galran rebel... I'm sorry Keith." Takashi repeated, this time with a bit more information for it to really feel real for Keith. No, He refused to accept that. This can't be happening. No. No. No. Why him!? Oh gods.. Lance.... Allura.. No. Gods.... why?

Keith's vision became blurrier and blurrier as he broke down and began to quietly sob, he let go of Takashi's shirt. He grabbed the notebook but he couldn't write, he was too distraught. Takashi reached over in an attempt to comfort him but Keith stubbornly swatted his hand away, he wanted to ask for more details but his voice still wouldn't work- not yet at least and writing was difficult at the moment. Keith's tears started to hit the notebook page, making the ink bleed from the words he had written earlier. "Do you want me to leave you alone..?" Takashi asked calmly, and to his surprise Keith shook his head 'no'.

Keith noticed the alpha sitting next to him had been letting out calming pheromones and it did help but he still couldn't quite calm down enough to even know where to begin to start writing. He hated this, it was as if someone had used a remote and hit the mute button on him and it was frustrating. Keith just wanted to be with Lance right now but who even knows if Lance wanted anything to do with him now.

Takashi awkwardly patted Keith's head, seemingly not knowing what was okay or not with the omega since Keith had already refused his attempt at comforting him before. Keith was going to refuse his actions again but relented, then Takashi pulled Keith into a side hug.

. . .

They stayed like that for a while as Keith calmed down, then the door creaked open again. Pidge didn't hesitate to go over to Keith's side with a box of tissues, trying to be there to comfort Keith as Keith had done for her the previous night. It took a while to notice that Hunk was standing awkwardly by the door, looking guilty as ever as he walked over to stand in front of Keith. "I just wanted to say that I'm truly sorry. It's all my fault that you're finding out like this.. what happened with Lance was also kind of my fault.. I was just on edge after the news of his death and jumped to unfair conclusions." Hunk stated as he scratched the back of his neck. Who could blame him really? They all knew King Alfor and his kind and caring nature, now he was gone. Just.. gone...

Keith grabbed his notebook and flipped through to a dryer page, scribbling out a quick response before Hunk could decide to leave. He wrote 'I probably would've done something similar in your position so don't beat yourself up about it' and handed it to Hunk. "You're lucky he's a forgiving guy, Hunk the Punk." Pidge said rather passive aggressively as she clung to Keith's arm, she had probably read what he was writing before he even handed the notebook over to Hunk.

When the notebook got back to Keith's hands he started writing again. His mind was a little clearer and he frantically wrote down 'What happened to Allura? Their Kingdom? Is she alright?' and Takashi and Pidge read it as he was writing, leaving Hunk kind of out of the loop but as long as one of the two answered him he didn't care. "Allura has sort of gone into hiding, she took her father's ship and an Altean man named Coran with her and they're currently just trying to stay under the radar. As for the kingdom it's probably in a state of disarray." Takashi replied and Pidge nodded. Hunk only now caught up to what they were talking about. Keith was relieved that Lance's sister was alive and well, in hiding- but alive.

He started scribbling on the page again, 'This is quite a lot to process and I thank you for not only telling me but for trying to comfort me. I'd like to be alone for a while, I hope you guys understand. It's just- overwhelming.' Keith passed the notebook to Takashi, who passed it to Pidge, and she passed it on to Hunk. "Alrighty, we will get out of your hair for now." Takashi said before he ruffled Keith's hair and got up to leave. Hunk nodded and followed Takashi out of the room. Pidge lagged behind, seemingly not wanting to leave Keith in such a state- as if she could sense Keith was going to break down as soon as they left. He figured as much and wrote down once more, 'I'll be okay eventually, pup. I just need a little bit of time. I promise.' Once she finished reading it she nodded and got up, Keith got up as well and hugged the pup close. He did need time to be alone but he didn't want her feeling as helpless as her facial expression made her look. When he let her go she gave him a sad understanding smile before leaving. Keith closed and locked the door, sliding down against it and pulled his knees to his chest. He wanted to go to Lance and try to comfort him but he feared how that would go, he didn't want to make things worse but he also didn't want to leave his alpha alone in such a vulnerable state. Keith couldn't quite convince himself to go to Lance and in the end he just started crying all over again.
