(49) The Bet

Keith's p.o.v:

They were all sitting around the kitchen table eating omelets for breakfast as Pidge ranted about wanting everyone to go out and do something fun with her today, Lance wasn't sitting in his usual seat beside Keith and has been keeping his distance ever since they woke up this morning. It was kind of bothering him. Lance isn't allowed to baby him at all today due to their little bet, that didn't mean they couldn't be close like they usually were... So.. Why was he keeping his distance exactly? Is this his way of getting back at Keith for making the bet in the first place? "Come on guys, It's so nice out today and this is the first time in a long time that I've actually wanted to leave the house!" Pidge continued, looking around at the other people at the table for a positive response. "Pidge you never want to leave the house, when you do it's to explore abandoned places." Takashi stated, a disapproving look on his face. ".....Fine- Yeah. I want to go to this abandoned house me and Hunk researched online. It's a very long drive and a short hike through the woods away, we have a copy of the floorplan this time and even Matt wants to come along! It's not as old as the Asylum was but it's said to be a lot creepier, which only makes me want to explore it even more." She explained, desperately trying to convince the others to come along. Lance opened his mouth to say something but decided against it, Keith had noticed it out of the corner of his eye as he watched the back and forth conversation between Takashi and Pidge. "I wouldn't be opposed to going." He stated bluntly, not expecting the shocked reactions on all of their faces. "After what happened to you last time you went with them you still want to go? Besides that- you're pregnant. You shouldn't be hiking." Takashi lectured, getting ignored by the omega as he continued to eat his meal.

"So me, Hunk, Matt, and Keith are going. You guys? In or out?" Pidge asked with a smug grin, looking to Lance and Takashi for their individual answers. The two alphas looked at one another with uneasy expressions, then back at Pidge. "Count me in, I'd usually refuse because the places you explore are filthy and downright disgusting but someone has to look after you guys. Matt is too childish to be responsible for you guys." Takashi finally answered, not looking the slightest bit happy about any of this. "And you? Are you coming with us too or are you just going to stay here all alone all day?" Pidge questioned. Keith glanced over at Lance and they locked eyes for a moment or two before the alpha turned his attention back to the pup. "Well if you're all going, I'm going too. You said it's creepier than the asylum?" Lance asked, looking to Pidge and Hunk for the details.

"Oh you'll see, this place just screams 'creepy murder house'. They've found so many bodies in this house, no one knows if it's a body dumping site or if a cult is sacrificing people- or even if it's just a place people come to kill themselves in. Either way, this place has to be haunted at this point." Hunk explained before he carried off everyone's empty plates to the sink. "Like I said before, it's a very long drive so we should start getting ready and head out as soon as we can." Pidge added before leaving the kitchen with Hunk, probably going off to get all their recording equipment ready for the trip. "I'm already regretting my decision. Let's go get you a beanie and do your makeup kiddo." Takashi stated, leading Keith to the living room as Lance followed along.

The long process of getting ready was over, now they just had to figure out who was riding in what vehicle since they had six people in total. "Someone should go with Shiro so he doesn't have to ride alone, Matt I volunteer your annoying ass to go with him." Pidge stated, crossing her arms as she glared at her older brother. Everyone laughed at her remark except Keith and Matt, Matt had an overly exaggerated offended look on his face. "Wow. Love you too, Pidgeon." Matt replied as he started walking with Takashi towards the truck. Everyone else got into Hunk's jeep, Pidge and Keith took up the backseat and Lance sat in the passenger seat. Why isn't he sitting back here with Keith? Is Lance seriously going to avoid him until this bet is over? "It's a 5 hour drive so get comfortable you guys, when we stop somewhere for snacks and drinks don't forget to take a bathroom break as well." Hunk informed them as he started up the car and pulled out of the driveway. Keith caught Lance glancing back at him as Pidge laid her head down on Keith's lap, probably laying down to take a nap during this long trip. Lance didn't look the least bit pleased about the pup's napping spot, good. That's what you get for avoiding your mate for no good reason, besides- She's just a pup. If they weren't in the middle of this bet Lance would be back here instead of Pidge- No- If they weren't in the middle of this bet Lance most likely would've begged Keith not to tag along with them, leaving Keith no choice but to give in because he's weak when it comes to Lance.
