Lance's P.O.V:

After yesterday's incident, everyone has been more on edge. Me, Keith and Lotor had planned to meet up at the ballroom shortly after people started arriving at the castle. Keith showed up wearing a cropped black halter top and high waisted black dress-pants. Lotor went for a casual but classy black suit and no tie, with a dark purple dress shirt. I went for my usual stylish vest and dress shirt combo, my vest was so dark blue you could hardly tell it was blue at all under the ballroom lighting. My vest has stars embroidered along the bottom, which is probably my favorite part about my outfit.

The ballroom is decorated with plenty of streamers and balloons and our kingdom's specialty, flowers. The tables were adorned with floral centerpieces, and white table cloths that go all the way down to the floor. There were buffet tables all set up and ready, along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages alike. My father really went all out for my sister's birthday ball, and when she arrives we will all congratulate her.

. . .

"Shall we find a table you guys? Or wait on the dance floor for the music to start?" Keith asked, watching the other guests walk past us. I knew he would probably rather dance, but if a partner switching dance started to play I knew I wouldn't want to share him. "Guys?" Keith asked, waving his hand in front of me and then Lotor's face. "We could wait by the dance floor and just see if any of us get interested." I suggested. Lotor nodded his head in agreement. "Okay lets go you two!" Keith said cheerfully. Keith got between me and Lotor and grabbed both of us by an arm and practically dragged us to the edge of the dance floor. I realized that Lotor and Keith kind of looked like they were matching... but then again black is always in style.

I found it kind of surprising Keith seemed so excited about getting to dance even with the possibility of the rebel group being here and with what happened to Lotor just yesterday afternoon. Maybe he's using the ball itself as a distraction from yesterday's incident. The music started playing, it was rather upbeat and fast paced. It's a song and dance almost anyone and everyone knows and loves. Keith looked up at me, assuming this was his way of asking me to dance I nodded. Keith smiled and we both walked onto the dance floor, leaving Lotor at the sidelines by himself.

I could tell Lotor was mad, and I knew for a fact he was mad when I turned and spun Keith, I saw him glaring at me. He can glare all he wants, I'm not going to let Lotor think for even a tik (second) he can have Keith. Everyone started getting ready and leaving enough space to safely do this part of the dance. Everyone knows this part of this song and dance, it just so happens to be my favorite part! I lifted Keith up by the waist, high enough that his head was just above mine and spun us slowly, gently setting him back down after.

More people were showing up and watching from the sidelines of the dance floor, probably waiting until this song is over to join in on the fun. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lotor leaning against the wall, still glaring. I spun Keith out just to spin him into me, his back to my chest and swayed. It was part of the dance, but it was also nice to just be holding him like this. I spun him back out as the song ended. The next song was starting and I could already tell it was going to be a slow dance. "Want to stay?" I asked. "Sure." Keith replied with a smile, and put one hand on my chest and the other hand in mine.

Most of the guests should be here by now, and it sure seemed like everyone arrived due to how crowded the dance floor was now. Keith rested his head on my chest as we danced and Im kind of scared he may notice how fast my heartbeat is going. Some guests were gossiping about us fairly loudly, talking about how we "must be mates." Saying other things like "but aren't those two both alphas?" Also about how we "look cute together." I agree, we do look cute together.

Once the slow dance was over and we heard the beginning of the next song, Keith shook his head no this time and we went back to where we left Lotor. Lotor looked away from us as we approached, he had an empty wine glass in hand and it was obviously not his only one as 2 other empty glasses sat on the nearby table. His scent told me he was a little more then a bit upset. "Don't you think it's a little unwise of you to be drinking when rebels could show up at any moment?" I said calmly. Keith used both of his arms to hold my right arm against his chest and shook his head 'no'. Probably trying to tell me to just drop it, but what would happen if this irresponsible alpha gets wasted and rebels do attack? Im not going to risk me or Keith's life for this arrogant prick if he's not even going to try.

Lotor set his empty wine glass down on the nearby table with the other two, and growled at me as he stomped toward me and Keith. "3 glasses of wine isn't going to affect me, so watch your tone with me." Lotor said irritably, and crossed his arms across his chest.  "My tone? I was just reminding you of the unpredictable situation we're currently in and that we all need to be prepared for the worst case scenario." I snapped back at him. Lotor stepped closer, as if he was going to get in my face and shove me or something but Keith got in between us. "Will you two chill out?! Please?..." Keith begged, looking in between us two with a pleading expression. I felt bad immediately for even provoking Lotor in the first place because Keith's scent told me he was agitated. I relented and said "Fine."

Lotor looked down at Keith then back at me. "Fine, whatever." Lotor said with a growl, and still looked like he could punch me at any second. Keith sighed in what I can only assume was pure relief.

The music stopped and it was surprisingly quiet considering how many people were in this ballroom right now. Everyone stood aside as my sister Allura walked behind my father up to the stage where people would sometimes perform. Allura was wearing a stunning gown, and her long white hair was braided into a low bun. "We are all here today to celebrate my daughter, Princess Allura's Birthday and I'm so glad you all could attend!" King Alfor announced, and we all gave him a round of applause. "Now you guys can get back to the party, I won't keep you any longer!" King Alfor said and he and Allura walked off stage.

. . .

A girl that looks to have been drinking quite a bit, walked over to us. "Oo hey cutie, what's up? I don't usually go for Galra boys but you're rather cute." She said, and I assumed she was talking to Lotor. But that was not the case. "Me?..." Keith asked awkwardly. "Yes, you! What's your S.G? (Secondary gender) Omega right?? Got a mate?" She asked, all of her questions rapid fire before he could answer or turn her down. "He's an alpha, show some respect." Lotor said, as though he might bite this alpha girl's head off. "An alphaaaa? Common he's so cute though~ Can we just pretendddd you aren't an alpha sweetie?!~" she said. Keith looked deeply uncomfortable. "I can show you a fun time, just give me a chance cutie!~" She continued.

It was my turn to snap on this girl as I raised my voice and said, "He is not available anyway, and you're being incredibly disrespectful to not only an alpha, but a prince." She quickly realized her mistake and bowed and made herself scarce. Lotor raised an eyebrow my way. "Isn't available?" Lotor asked sharply, wanting an explanation for what I implied. "Lance thank you for lying on the spot for me like that, I don't know what I would've done." Keith interrupted. Right.. it was a lie but how I wish you really weren't available and could just be my mine.
