(30) Mac n' Cheese

Keith's P.O.V:

I woke up to the sway of Lance carrying me from the car into the house and straight to his room, my head was still pounding but not as bad as before. Everything ached, and that is to be expected after such a nasty fall.

"Oh kitten, you're awake." Lance mumbled quietly, gently nudging the door closed behind him with his foot. "Let's get dressed into clean clothes before we hop into bed. I'd say lets both take a shower and then get dressed and into bed but I think we're both too tired for all of that." Lance chuckled, with a sad smile. I nodded slowly, and he cautiously set me down on my feet, not letting go of me completely until he knew I wasn't going to fall over. I grabbed my clothes from my bag and stumbled into the bathroom to change.

As I reached for the lock to the bathroom door I realized I could hear the faint sound of crying. I turned the lock and slowly opened the door, revealing Lance who was sitting on the edge of the bed crying, and not to mention still not dressed for bed. "Lance?" I whispered as I stepped in front of him, and removed his hands from his face so I could make him look at me. Once I grabbed his attention I cupped his face in between my small hands. "K-Kitten.. I'm sorry.. I'm truly a failure as an alpha if I can't even keep y-you safe.." Lance stammered, as I wiped his tears away with my thumbs when they rolled down his cheeks. I shook my head no.

Lance wrapped his arms tightly around my torso and pulled me closer to him, looking up at me as I continued to wipe away his tears. "Hun, you aren't a failure as an alpha. You're an amazing alpha, I was the one who wanted to help Pidge and made the split second decision to go to her side. If you were a failure of an alpha you would've gotten violent with Pidge and Hunk, blaming them for what happened." I replied, remembering Lotor's violent episodes. Lance's expression softened for a moment and then became serious. "I hate that guy." Lance grumbled, and I knew he was talking about Lotor. "It was hard to fight my alpha instincts.. I wanted to be mad.. But I couldn't... I was more worried for your safety than anything else." Lance mumbled before he buried his face in my chest.

    I ran my fingers through his hair, and realized his altean ears were showing and smiled. The way Lance is holding me right now is rather.. possessive now that I think about it... cute. "Lance can you look at me please?~" I asked quietly. Lance did as I asked and looked up at me, still clinging to me. Thankfully he was no longer crying, he seems to have calmed down a little. I'm glad.

   Without really thinking about it I leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead. Lance had the goofiest grin appear on his face before he pulled me onto his lap and kissed my cheek. "I love you Kitten~" Lance whispered, then he nuzzled my cheek. My face grew warm and my heartbeat sped up. "I.. I love you too Hun~" I stammered, my heart threatening to burst. Lance's face looked surprised, as if he didn't think I'd say it back. Before I knew it his lips were on mine, his lips are so.. soft. That was our first real kiss... Lance then gave me a quick squeeze not really wanting to let go before setting me down on the bed itself. "I'm going to get changed, you can lay down and go to sleep now. Sorry I kept you up a little longer." Lance said and kissed my forehead before grabbing some clothes and going into the bathroom to change. 

  I laid down and pulled the comforter over my head, hiding my embarrassment from the world. Oh my gods did that just happen? Did I just- oh my gods I told him that I love him. We kissed.. How am I supposed to sleep now!? My heart is beating way too fast.

   I didn't notice Lance was done changing and out of the bathroom until I felt the mattress shift on his side of the bed under his weight, and I removed the comforter from my face to look up at him. "Still not asleep?" Lance asked with a big smile on his face as he got comfy. I shrugged, and he patted his chest. Signaling me to lay my head down on his chest so we could cuddle. I nodded and crawled over to his side of the bed, resting my head on his chest and listening to his heartbeat. Lance wrapped an arm around me and used his other hand to pull the comforter up and over my shoulder.

I don't remember falling asleep, but when I woke up Lance was still sound asleep. I wriggled free from his embrace and went to the kitchen, Pidge and Hunk already there and eating... whatever that is at the table. "Oh Keith you're awake!" Takashi said from behind me, scaring the hell out of me. "TAKASHI!! Why would you do that-  I almost had a heart attack!" I shouted, turning around to face him. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, and I heard about what happened yesterday and even saw the footage from Pidge's camera. That seemed like a pretty nasty fall." Shiro replied, his face looking rather worried. "It was- But I'm fine now! All that really mattered at the time was protecting Pidge." I stammered as I nodded my head towards her direction. My body still ached all over, but at least my head was no longer pounding.

  Takashi looked her way and then back at me. "You guys shouldn't have gone there in the first place, it was dangerous. Anyway lets have lunch with the others, Keith." Takashi stated, and then walked towards the table and I followed and we each sat at one of the plates of untouched food. "Good afternoon Keith! How's your... head?" Hunk asked and pointed to his own head. "My head is fine, my body just kind of aches is all. By the way what is this?" I asked, gesturing to the plate in front of me. "Homemade mac n' cheese, it's really good! Try it." Pidge answered before Hunk could even open his mouth. I looked down at my plate and scooped up some "mac n' cheese" with my spoon, then tried it. I was pleasantly surprised, it was actually delicious. I could really get used to Earth food.
