You know what? Having to attend detention really isn't that bad. I was given a quiet room to catch up on my reading, my homework, and my assignments, all with a teacher there to ask as many questions as I liked! The only downside is that it is now on my permanent record, and that's not great, but I'm sure they don't even look at those things when you're applying for college... right?

On another note, the other perk was that I got to see Mr. Schue hang up the posters for this year's musical! I kept it a secret, even though it nearly killed me, and found out with the rest of my fellow Glee club members.

 "Funny Girl?" Angie queried.

"Funny Girl." I confirmed. "I want to play Fanny Brice so bad."

"I don't know who that is, but you'll get it, I'm sure." Angie turned to me and gently smiled.

"You should audition with me!" I exclaimed, turning to her and grabbing her hands. "You could audition as Rose, we'd be so great together."

Angie plucked her hands from mine, intertwined her fingers, and sheepishly shook her head. "It's not my thing, but, uh, thanks."

I gently pushed her shoulder. "We would have fun," I sung, smiling again.

"What would be fun?" A voice interrupted us. It was Kitty, blonde hair pulled back in a tight and curly ponytail. She had this devious smirk on her face, and I knew a snide remark was coming so soon.

I decided to be polite. "The musical. I'm just saying that Angie should audition with me. I could audition for Fanny and she could audition for-"

Kitty let out a loud and obnoxious laugh. "Don't even worry about it. I'm getting the lead this year." Kitty walked up to the poster, tapped Fanny's nose, swung her ponytail right under my nose, and walked away from us down the hall.

We stood in silence for a moment, before I broke it. "Don't let her put you off auditioning." Angie  shook her head, but said nothing. "Anyway," I said, beginning to walk down the hall. "What should I sing for my audition?"

"Whatever song you like," Angie said.

I pondered about it for a moment, running through all of my most favourite songs in the world. Nothing felt right. "I really don't know what would work."

Angie paused. "Who was the lady on the poster? Barbra Streisand, yeah?"

I nodded.

"Then use Barbra Streisand herself... you'll do it justice. I just know it." Angie smiled warmly at me, and I knew she was right.

I threw my phone down on the bed, fed up. I had been trying to reach Ryder all afternoon, but I hadn't heard a peep from him. From missed call to unanswered text messages, I was starting to give up... until I heard my catchy ringtone blast through the air.

I quickly tapped the little green camera icon and watched as his face slowly appear, pixel by pixel. "Hello!" I smiled.

"Hello there," Ryder replied. I watched him sift through some random notebooks right beside his phone. "What's up?"
