Santana was telling me about love songs as Travis set up his microphone. Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my purse - which was hanging on my chair. I smiled to myself and pulled it out of the purse, slowly opening my message:
Ryder: Hey, babe. How are you going? Having fun? xx
I smiled at Ryder's text and tucked my hair behind my ear, typing in a response. "Ryder texted you?" Santana asked with a soft smile. It was almost like she enjoyed seeing us communicating - and I was fairly sure most people were sick of us except for her.
"Yeah. We try and talk almost every day." I told her with a nod.
"That's good. You're not letting yourselves spilt up." Santana said. "Brittany and I didn't make it with me in Louisville and her here." Santana shook her head sighing. I clicked the send button and smile.
Me: Hi! I'm going great, and the wedding is fun, but I have no one to dance with :( xox
I laughed at my own text message and was greeted by another from Ryder minutes later.
Ryder: Aww! Well, pretend I'm dancing with you, even though you'd look weird. :P Anyway, love you xxox
I grinned at his text, not sending him back another message, knowing he probably wouldn't reply. I slipped it back into my purse and looked up to the stage, hearing music. I flicked my head up slowly and saw Travis on the stage, swaying from side to side in the beat of the song.
Travis:
When a man loves a woman
Can't keep his mind on nothin' else
Travis looked over at me and smiled. I looked away from him and to Santana, who was frowning between us.
"He's giving you weird I'm in love looks. It's creepy." Santana said. I nodded and rubbed my eyes.
He'd trade the world
For a good thing he's found
If she is bad, he can't see it
She can do no wrong
Turn his back on his best friend
If he puts her down
When a man loves a woman
Spend his very last dime
Trying to hold on to what he needs
He'd give up all his comforts
And sleep out in the rain
If she said that's the way
It ought to be
When a man loves a woman
I give you everything I got (yeah)
Trying to hold on
To your precious love
Baby please don't treat me bad
When a man loves a woman
Deep down in his soul
She can bring him such misery
If she is playing him for a fool
He's the last one to know
Loving eyes can never see
