The Glee club and I had spent many, many hours decorating the gym for Prom, which was in less than an hour.

I was standing in my room, listening to my Ed Sheeran playlist and trying to curl my hair with a pen. It wasn't working, but I had nothing else to do because I was leaving so, so soon with Angie.

Ryder and I had talked earlier, and he told me to go with Travis, even though he wanted to beat him up. I was still hesitant to even go to prom, but I was performing, so I had to. And I didn't like that I was being forced.

There was a loud knock at the door and I stood up suddenly, walking out of my room. As I passed Angie's room, she came bursting out in that dress she showed me the other day and a large pair of heels.

"Dude," I said, mimicking her.

"You look pretty!" She shouted, opening the door to the house and making small talk with whoever was there. I walked out and spotting Jake standing at the door with a smile on his face.

"Hi," I said, walking into the kitchen barefoot and grabbing a biscuit from the top cupboard.

"Hey, Marls, you look nice," Jake complemented, walking into the house the slighest bit and leaning against the wall. Angie was staring at him as she shut the door and waddled over, putting her and on his elbow.

"Thanks," I said with my mouth half full.

"Where's Miss Rose, I just want to say hi?" Jake asked, poking his head into the lounge room.

"In her room," I mumbled, pointing down the corridor.

"I'll pretend I know where her room is," Jake walked down the corridor, making quiet taps with his shoes.

"When did he ask you?" I whispered loudly, dragging Angie over to the kitchen.

She blushed at me and rolled her eyes, tossing her curls over her shoulder. "Last night, when we were decorating the gym." She whispered bashfully.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I was excited." She sighed, clapping her hands lightly and jumping as best as she could in those killer heels.

"Don't you normally tell people when your excited?" I whispered.

"I work differently to you," She smiled, walking to the door and opening it. "You're going to have to walk by yourself, sorry. I would not be able to walk in heels," Her heels were large, and I understood completely... but I was gutted about having to walk by myself.

"Fine," I said with a small smile, walking back up the hall and crashing into Jake.

"I have guts," He whispered, flashing me a smile. "I'll see you later, 'k?" He walked out to Angie and I heard the door shut, along with some chatter happening.

I ran up to Mom's room and sat on her bed next to her as she read a book called The Secret Keeper. "Hi," I whispered with a small smile.

"Hey, Marley," she said, putting the bookmark in and closing her book. "Angie left?" I nodded and sighed.

"I wish that I had a date tonight, Mom," I sighed.

"Marls, you're going to have fun anyway, date or not." Mom pulled me into a hug.

I nodded and kissed her cheek. "I better go soon."

"Yeah," Mom smiled, releasing me. "Have fun, okay, hon?" Mom gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"I'll try," I ran out of the room with that, slipping on my flats and grabbing my matching purse.

"Bye, Mom! I'll see you later!" I shouted, walking out of the door. It was still broad daylight when I stepped out and it was barely cold, but I suspected it would be later, so I brought Ryder's jumper with me.
