Chapter 10 - Let's Have a Kiki

In line with the crazy time I had, the afternoon Glee club meeting was anything but normal.

It had begun with Ms. Holliday storming into the room and screaming, "I'm back, bitches!" Thankfully, I wasn't the only one to think she was odd. There was an awkward silence in the room, as no one knew who she was or where she had come back from. After being met with the awkward stares and fiery glares (from Kitty, of course), Ms. Holliday sighed and brushed down her skirt. "I literally have never taught any of you, have I?"

Mr. Schue laughed, wrapping her in a hug. "No, Holly, these are a whole new bunch of kids." He turned to us. "Guys, this is Ms. Holliday. She is, like, Glee club royalty."

"Ms. H!" Finn shouted, entering the room.

"Finn!" She shouted. "What are you still doing here? Did you, uh, repeat? I thought that might happen to you."

"No... I'm helping Mr. Schue with Glee club." Finn said, disappointed, quickly sitting down in one of the many seats.

Ms. Holliday laughed to fill the awkward space. "Well, I think this calls for a song!" She pointed to the band and, as they begun to play, she dragged one of the choir room chairs to the centre of the room.

Ms. Holliday:
Hey, I'm calling you back.

Ms. Holliday made a phone with her forefinger and thumb and put it up to her ear, pretending she was talking on it.

Oh, she's been a bitch tonight!
And by bitch I mean this rain
No cabs, nowhere.
So I had to put on the wig, and the heels,
And the lashes and the heir
And take the train to the club
And you know the MTA should stand for mothers touchin' my ass
So then I get to the club lookin' like a drowned harassed rat
And am greeted not by Miss Rose at the door,
But our friend, Johnny 5-0.
Yes honey, the NYPD shut down the party!
So no fee for me!
I don't even know what's the Tea!

Ms. Holliday got up out of her seat and pulled each of us out of seats. We all shared a look, confused out of our minds about what was going on.

So I hope you're up, girl,
'Cause we are all coming over
Lock the doors, lower the blinds
Fire up the smoke machine and put on your heels
'Cause I know exactly what we need!

And almost as if I was in a musical, everyone around me seemed to get the gist of what was going on and begun singing. I was scared, so I exited the group and went to sit on the steps.

The New Directions, who had been bouncing off the walls for the past 5 minutes, all cheered. I just stared at them, wide-eyed and confused.

"And that, my friends, is how you sing a song!" Ms. Holliday shouted.

I searched for a person who shared my absolute confusion about what was happening that today but, alas, I was alone. Was I the only person who thought it was strange?

"Was it just me," I asked Angie and Jake as we left Glee club, "or has today been... so weird?"

Angie and Jake shared a glance and a shrug. "No," Jake sighed, "today has been as normal as any other day."

Angie nodded. "Yeah, as terrible as any other day."

"But you seemed like you were really enjoying yourself, Angie, with Ms. Holliday," I said.

"Oh, absolutely, that was probably the highlight of my day," she answered quickly. "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself, Marley." Angie gave me a tight lipped smile.

"You normally love to get involved, what's up Marls?" Jake asked.

"Her and Ryder aren't allowed to talk for like, a week," Angie answered for me.

We stopped in the middle of the hallway, in a small circle. "What happened?" Jake asked me.

"You know Ryder's mom, she's like... crazy. And she just freaked that Ryder wasn't doing his homework and was talking to me instead and she just banned us." A pit grew in my stomach. "I-I know it's not the end of the world," I started to tear up properly, "but it's hard enough as it is to be away from him, and now I can't even talk to him."

Both Angie and Jake gave me sad smiles. "It must suck, I'm sorry," Angie said.

"Don't forget, Mar, you've always got us!" Jake signalled around the circle. "If you think of something exciting you want to text Ryder just... text us instead!"

I laughed, despite the tears. "Sure, I'll text you that I love you."

Jake and Angie both leaned in to give me a great big hug. I revelled in it, thinking about how lucky I was to have them. But when they pulled away, all I was hit with was the absence of my boyfriend. They were great, but it wasn't the same. I appreciated everything they did for me, though, so I thanked them both and headed home... to stare at the walls until I could talk to my boyfriend again.
