I hardly slept. I was stressed about everything, from Angie to Ryder to not getting the role I wanted in the musical. Luckily, I had Jake to walk to school with and he kept me entertained enough to not fall asleep on the sidewalk.
As we entered the main building of the school, Angie was waiting right by the door. Angie looked better than usual today, with her usually messy hair quite tamed and clean... and that brand new jumper. Angie stepped up us. "Hey Marley," she started, "and hey Jake."
"That's a nice sweater," I said. I watched her face to see if she would react at all, but she just smiled.
"Thanks! I got it yesterday." Angie looked down at her new sweater. It was long, with bell sleeves that only showed the tips of her fingers.
Jake butted in. "It actually looks really nice on you, Ange."
Angie's cheeks turned that bright red again. "Thank you, Jake."
I didn't want to ruin her nice moment, but I wanted to ask more questions. "Where'd you get it?"
"Oh, some shop at the... at the mall." Angie nervously tucked her hair behind her ear. She was smiling up at Jake, with the gooiest look in her eyes. "Anyway, Jake, have you decided what song you're going to sing?"
"I have an idea, but I'm not too sure." He leaned against the wall and ran his hand over his buzzed hair. "Are you gonna come and watch?" He more so asked Angie than me.
"Absolutely!" She grinned. "I can't wait."
"Anyway, we should head to home room," Jake said, walking off.
Angie meekly said her goodbyes, before turning to me. She jumped onto her tip toes. "He said he liked my sweater!"
I couldn't ruin her good mood by bringing up my bad feelings. Plus, if it was really that bad, she wouldn't have been so happy about the sweater... right?
"I think he might like you," I laughed.
Angie's grin only grew, and we walked to our first classes of the day.

The second the bell rang for lunch, Angie jumped out of seat and bolted down the hall. I scooped up my things from the desk and tried my best to follow right behind. I had never seen her so full of energy, that it made me feel... relaxed again.
Angie waited for me by the door to the auditorium. She held it open for me, letting me in. I went to the nearest seat and sat down. We had made it with plenty of time, as Jake was just walking into the spotlight.
"Jake," Artie called out. "What role will you be auditioning for today?"
"I will be auditioning for Nick," he smiled.
"Great, thanks," Artie said. "Whenever you're ready."
The music for his song rang through the auditorium. As it began, he scanned the room and his eyes landed on us.
Jake:
Deeper
Falling deeper
Can't be rescued from your eyesRestless
So damn restless
I won't let you off my mindTimeless
You stand before me
Holding heaven in your handsI, I'm not afraid
I can't explain
The way I'm feeling now
You, you fell from grace
Without a trace
My heart stopped bleeding onI felt goosebumps grow on my arms. He had this silky smooth, incredibly deep voice, that was so powerful yet so calm.
Patience
Losing patience
I just want you by my sideTrust me
Why won't you trust me
Just take my hand tonightBeautiful
You're so beautiful
You don't even realizeI, I'm not afraid
I can't explain
The way I'm feeling nowYou, you fell from grace
Without a trace
My heart stopped bleeding onI remember the day
When I first saw your face
The way you smile and just walked away
Yeah I remember the day
When I first saw your face
The way you smile and just walked awayTimeless
You stand before me
Holding heaven in your handsOhh
I, I'm not afraid
I can't explain
The way I'm feeling now
You, you fell from grace
Without a trace
My heart stopped bleeding onI remember the day
When I first saw your face
The way you smile and just walked away
Yeah I remember the day
When I first saw your face
The way you smile and just walked awayThe moment the final chord rung through the speakers, the alums started a thunderous applause... and so did we. I jumped to my feet, shortly followed by Angie, to give him a standing ovation. Jake smiled up at us in the back corner and bowed.
Angie turned to me. "He's so going to get Nick."
I agreed.
"Lucky you, getting to kiss him." Angie nudged me in the ribs.
I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, my god. You're not even trying to hide your crush on him anymore."
"What?! No, I-I..." Angie started to put up a fight, but I simply left the room.
***
As we walked into Glee club that afternoon, Kitty was the first to speak up. "Finn, when's the cast list going up?"
Finn grinned evilly and flicked a folded piece of paper from his pocket. "This is it." Finn teased, waving it back and forth. Mr. Schue entered the room at that moment, right into all of the commotion.
"Mr. Schue," Finn called out. "I had a fantastic idea for sectionals!"
"Let me guess... another K-pop bop?" Kitty groaned.
"No... but that's a good idea, Kitty." Finn smiled, pointing at her. "Brittany sung this last year - Bom Bo-" Finn didn't even need to finish his sentence before everyone started to argue.
"Not happening!"
"That song has only a couple of words!"
"It sucks, Finn."
"We're not doing Bom Bom." Jake shook his head, creating another riot.
"Okay! We're not doing Bom Bom!" Mr. Schue shouted over the noise in the room. "But on that note... any other suggestions?"
