Weeks of planning lead up to this moment. Weeks of constant dancing and singing and costume planning lead up this.
Nationals. We were finally here and we were going to win, that's for sure.
Nationals were in Chicago this year, as they were about two years back, according to Finn. We were here for a week, staying in a hotel - Girls cramped in one room, boys in the other room. We'd spent most of the week polishing up our dance routines, but we'd spent a couple of hours exploring the town.
There was less than a day until the competition, and the girls and I were quite nervous about performing on a National stage... all of us except for Sugar. She couldn't be happier about being here again.
"I'm having second thoughts about Jake and I's duet." Angie whispered, biting on her nail as we sat up at two am.
"Why?" Kitty asked, sitting in the chair in the corner of the room on her phone.
"I have no idea," Angie whispered with a laugh.
"Marley, are you nervous?" Kitty asked, twirling her hair around her finger.
I had the lead in Heaven - our second number. And surprisingly, the nervousness wasn't that bad. "No," I whispered, sitting up and looking down at Unique, who was painting her finger nails.
"I have a feeling we're going to smash everyone this year!" She spoke up, looking up at me.
"Our set list rules," Sugar said, doodling in her notebook as she lay in front of Angie and I.
"Yeah, and we have true talents singing for us." Kitty said, pointing around the room.
"Do you think that I should give up singing with Jake?" Angie sighed, twirling her hair and sighing heavily.
"Why?" We all asked, giving her weird looks.
"Girl, he is crazy for you," Unique said, turning around. Angie mumbled something about him not being crazy for her before I pushed her to the side lightly.
"Stop complaining," I laughed.
"Guys, is it weird that our junior year is already over?" Kitty whispered, staring up at the ceiling.
"Senior," Unique corrected, high-fiving Sugar.
"Whatever, I'm talking to Marley." Kitty sighed. "Our high school life is nearly over and then we have to go into the real world. One where people are mean - meaner than me." Kitty added, her eyes widening.
"We still have another year, Kitty," I said. "We shouldn't have to worry about graduating until it finally comes around."
"True," Sugar laughed, not looking up from her book.
"It's two am, why are we still up?" Angie asked, looking over at the clock.
"Because we are we and we are awesome." Kitty laughed, walking over to the bed next to the one I was lying on. "We should probably get to bed; Finn's going to wake us up early tomorrow." Kitty said, pulling the covers of the bed over her.
"Yeah, I'm tired." I sighed, pushing Sugar off the bed lightly and rolling where she was.
"Night, girls!" Unique shouted.
"Night," We mumbled, tossing in excitment about Nationals.

After the toughest practice lesson we had had in a while, we were ready for Nationals, and we were going to win. I'd said this before, but I was more determined this time.
