The excitment about winning Nationals hadn't died down, and it was one week until the end of the year. It had been a pretty awesome year.
Sure, Ryder wasn't here and it caused me a lot of sadness, but despite that - and every other bad event that had happened that had gotten me down in any way - it was a great year.
When I walked into the choir room, I felt a mixed vibe of happiness and sadness. The seniors were probably sad to be leaving the Glee club and school, and I was sad for them, but I was quite happy finishing my junior year in one piece.
I sat down in my usual spot at the front with a small smile on my face, staring at the board in front of me. It was blank now, but it was soon to be drawn on by Finn and Mr. Schue.
Mr. Schue came into the room with a small smile, clapping his hands together and grabbing our attention. "Wow," He laughed, taking a step forward. "One week until three of you have graduated, and that leaves five of you to keep the family alive."
"This week, I want you to sing about leaving, or for you juniors and sophomores, I want you to sing about your graduating students." Mr. Schue told us with a smile, Finn rocking awkwardly behind him.
"Hut," Sugar laughed, saluting Mr. Schue.
"I really don't want to leave," Unique told us, throwing her hands up in distress.
"Unique, it'll be fine," I told her, turning around. "Think about it; no more slushies!"
"I'm probably going to miss the slushies," Joe sighed.
"Same," Sugar sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Anyway," Angie smiled, gripping onto Jake's hand and turning to face Unique. "You're done; no more bullies, no more work. You can be yourself without people around every corner judging you and whispering stuff behind your back. You don't have to worry about surviving because you've gone through the shit and you have survived the climb." She shrugged like her speech was nothing, facing Jake with a small smile.
"Yeah," Kitty shouted. "And you won't be bitched at by me every day!"
"Exactly, guys." Jake laughed, smiling down at me before throwing his arm around Angie's shoulders and pulling her close to him. They both looked so happy.
"It won't be too bad, guys - a little emotional at first, but it'll be worth it." I smiled, tilting my head to the side.
Before our conversation could finish, the bell rang. We all filed out of the classroom slowly, chatting about the gradutation this coming Friday.
"Marls, we had an idea," Jake smiled, spinning me around and facing me in the middle of the hallway.
"It was your idea," Angie poked Jake and laughed, looking at her boots.
"We should sing to Unique, Joe and Sugar this year, like last year." Jake beamed. "We were thinking Happiness by The Fray."
"You keep saying we. You came up with all of this." Angie laughed again, before Kitty joined in our conversation.
"We totally should sing. I don't think we should sing Happiness by The Fray - Happiness by Alexis Jordan is better! And it should only be us four, because we are far cooler than any one else in the room. And yes, Pro, you are kind of cool in some dorky way." Kitty smirked. "Practice at lunch?" She didn't even wait for us to confirm before walking off.
"No, I can't make it, Kitty Wilde." I muttered to myself, laughing with Jake and Angie before they walked away, holding hands. It made me feel sick to the stomach because they had each other and then I was left there with no one at all.
