For 40 years, Neptune Harmonia Gropius believed his son was dead. It was past midnight on a cold March 1 when he received a call from a stranger in the Galar region, claiming to be a member of the criminal syndicate Cipher; who somehow knew that Rigel Harmonia was alive and well in Galar. He couldn't say more in case 'someone else' heard the call.

The International Police already suspected that Cipher remained in Galar, even after their leader, the illegitimate son of Ardos, fled. They also suspected that during Team Plasma's last revival, one of their Admins fled to Galar. A worker at Hammerlocke International Airport swore he saw a 'Ghetsis lookalike.' Did that mean Cipher didn't only aid Team Plasma, but they joined forces?

As Neptune watched the International Police digging up his son's grave to find an empty urn, he wasn't thinking about evil teams and conspiracies. All he could think was that he spent 40 years trying and failing to piece together his broken soul, only to find that it never had to break in the first place; although perhaps it did, because what in the world became of Rigel? How and why did Cipher know of his whereabouts? That could only be a bad omen.

Neptune's cousin Triton recently joined the International Police. He relayed every development on the case. They did plan to go to Galar and find Rigel, but they couldn't simply rush in. It was taking too long. Neptune wasn't willing to wait for the police. He and four friends packed their bags. One of those friends was Amber, Leon's daughter. Until they retired, Neptune played professional football with her husband, Trip. They could stay at her parents' empty house in Wyndon.

As usual, Neptune's childhood friend Johona and her husband Nathan, Triton's parents, were late. If someone's Scorbunny hadn't set fire to a seat, the flight would have departed without them, but mishaps like that were practically guaranteed on Air Orre. It was the world's cheapest airline and arguably the worst. Also as usual, they blasted country music all the way to Wyndon. Amber kept saying she would pay more to retain her sanity next time, but Trip, Neptune and Nathan still got free flights from being sponsored during their football careers. Their faces were still on tailfins. They never did pay to fly in peace.

How hard could it be to find Rigel? Amber's brother, Fayiz, still lived in Hammerlocke. Her own daughter recently moved in with him to continue her medical studies in Galar. Neptune and Nathan could talk to Pokémon. Amber and Nathan could see Shadow Pokémon auras, which probably meant Neptune could, too. They would see or hear something right away... or so they thought.

'Rigel Harmonia?'

Fayiz shook his head. 'I'm pretty sure I'd remember that name... but I've never heard it.'

'I guess... he might... he probably does have a different name by now...'

Neptune showed the few photos he had of Rigel as a baby. His eyes were blue there, but his mother had red eyes, so for all Neptune knew, his eyes turned red as he grew up. They could at least see that his hair was green. That wouldn't change.
