'That was wiiiiiiiiild!'

As Teddy and Ralph dashed out of the stadium once Khalid signed League Cards for them, Teddy collided with a stall. It collapsed. He was buried by the pile of tumbling books. Sobble tried to pull them off him, but it was too small and weak, so it cried instead. The bookseller shook his head at his collapsed stall.

'Sorry, Sir... I'm really sorry...'

'Not to worry. But since you're here, why not have a look at my fascinating books?'

His voice was familiar. So recently familiar, in fact, that Heather was sure she heard it earlier that day, but she couldn't place it. Then her eyes went to the tea-green hair under his hat. His eyes were grey, like N's.

His Audino helped Teddy to his feet as his Indeedee and Lucario restored the stall. Teddy wasn't interested, but he felt he had to look after destroying the stall.

'Mr. Machado has really good taste in books.'

All of Hessie's companions were surprised to hear her speak. She had already picked up a book: Galar's Greatest-Ever Champion: The Unofficial Biography.

'He has a bookshop in Ballonlea, but he often comes out to Wyndon.'

'Indeed I do. We at Craving Books travel all over Galar to share the joy of reading! For entertainment while you're on the road, look no further! That's a good choice, young lady. Leon is a fascinating man.'

Heather didn't care if she seemed rude. She was supposed to be a nervous foreigner whose mind was elsewhere. She took a surreptitious photo before hacking the phone in the man's pocket. The same photo was on the lock screen and wallpaper.

There was nothing on his phone to suggest he was suspicious. The non-standard apps he chose to download were innocent enough: Rotogram, Chirper, Vulpix Browser, White Pine Book Club, GBC News, Driving for Slowpoke and Rowlet's Language School. The gallery was full of photos of the woman and child on the wallpaper, whose names were Avila and Muirne. His name was Desiderio Machado. Heather would have to look into that and how he used those apps later. She turned her attention back to the books. Was there anything there that she should have been reading? Ralph bought a Galar League program. Teddy bought a Town Map. Desiderio tried to convince them to buy more, insisting those were the least interesting things on his stall, but Heather urged them not to buy anything they didn't want; so they didn't.

'You're the challenger endorsed by the Champion, aren't you? Perhaps I'll be selling your biography one day! Are you sure you're not interested in Leon's biography? Or Blue Oak's? Or Diantha–?'

'I'm sure. Thanks.'

'Well, I'm sure I'll be seeing you at Turffield Stadium. Do come and say hello, even if you're not interested! Perhaps I'll even have something to tempt you by then! And let me know if there's anything I can order for you, like foreign literature.'
