Chapter 100: The News

An Air Orre plane, with Michael's face on the tail fin, landed at Castelia City's Twin Heroes International Airport. It came all the way from Alola, stopping in Orre on the way. Horace's parents, Seth and Brass, boarded in Phenac City with Raidne, Galatea and Nick. Already onboard was Chris, the son of one of the most the legendary Trainers of all time, Red. He and several scientists from the Dimensional Research Lab had been on the delayed plane for over 14 hours now. His five year-old daughter, Tsubaki, got through her stack of kids' history books already. She was bored sick.

At that moment, none of the passengers from Orre had any idea that Horace disappeared into an Ultra Wormhole. They didn't even know he flew to Galar. Seth was only bringing his Celebi to help purify the Shadow Pokémon. Galatea and Nick wanted to see Zelimir. Raidne didn't know exactly what she wanted to do about Arlene, or if there even was anything to do be done, but she wanted to be there either way.

'Is that a Unovan Bodybuilder?!'

Brass thought ridiculously top-heavy Bodybuilders only came from Orre, but the huge man who squeezed down the aisle held a Unovan passport along with his International Police permission to travel. Lacey and Arielle were behind him. Shuffling behind them was an old man whose empty eyes suggested he died inside a long time ago.

Galatea thought Py might quip at her. He was Neptune's high school bully, after all, but he found his seat in silence. Raidne shook her head.

'Nah. He's not a Bodybuilder with a capital B.'

The passengers in the row ahead gossiped about something. Seth saw Helene's face on a screen through the seats. Wasn't she the Pokémon Professor who helped their friends identify the Hisuian Pokémon? Seth was vaguely curious now. He took out his P★DA to check the news before the plane took off again, although that was a while away. It had to be refuelled first.

'Hey, look!'

Sinnoh's Pokémon Professor was all over the news. Not only did her son kidnap Volo and rescue the true villain along with Poppy Akihiko, but Helene filed for divorce. To make matters even more sensational, Karot's last blog post revealed that his grandfather, Helene's dad, was Michael's illegitimate son. Raidne glanced back at Chris and Tsubaki. She had Michael's forest-green eyes.

'I think the grounds for the divorce might be on the plane with us...'

Brass was bored enough to stand up for a better look.

'Damn! Red's son? That kid is hers? No wonder he lives in a shack in the middle of nowhere! So Seth... if Michael's your uncle, that Karot's your...'

Raidne loaded a cousin calculator to work it out.

'First cousin twice removed!'

'It's OK,' Seth replied, 'I really didn't need to know that. But what else can we talk about? "I Spy?" Anything to block out that song...'

Music blared all the way from Alola. While their planes were airborne, Air Orre played popular country songs, but while they were stationary, they usually played their theme song – sung by Alfie, who demanded a massive donation to Battle Against Abuse in return for embarrassing himself – on repeat.
