Everyone wakes before sunrise to march.

Apparently, Soren and I were playing the part of loyal servant correctly because Viren ordered us to ride up front with him. Claudia is situated to the King's right, Prince Kasef then next to her. Soren is on his father's left, and I'm next to him. The guy with the weird red hat, who I found out has a name, Saleer, is on my own left.

And behind us, there are hundreds of thousands men and women.

I thought there was only to be soldiers from Katolis and Neolandia, but looking behind me, there are far too many for only two kingdoms.

The six of us at the front are the only ones on horseback, all the armies are on foot. Marching.

We are a good couple hours into the journey, and the sun is blazing in the cloudless sky. Viren has about a 2 meter lead ahead of Soren, Claudia and I, while Saleer and Kasef have dropped back behind us.

Soren's focus has mainly been on his father, but in the last minute it's gone from surveying to studying.

"What are you looking at?" I lean over and ask.

He continues to stare at Viren, and that's when I notice it.

That same creepy purple bug sitting on his ear.

Talking to him.

"You see it too, huh?" Soren questions.

I slowly nod. "It was also there that night we spoke to him in his cell," I inform.

"Interesting," Soren stretches out the word. Then he taps Phillips sides and closes in on Viren.

He raises his arm, preparing to hit the creature off of his father's ear. Although, as his hand comes down, Viren stops him.

Soren looks confused, "What? You don't want me to... smoosh that thing?"

His father let's go of his hand, "do not smoosh the purple creature," he orders. "Think of it as my animal familiar."

Soren cranes his head for a second to shrug his shoulders at me.

It is very creepy.

Plus, I could swear it speaks to him.

"So, you're saying you've... adopted... a little bug-pal?" His son questions.

Viren heavily sighs, irritated. "Yes, Soren. He is my little bug-pal." Soren takes that as his queue to stop talking, and slows Phillip until he's in-line with Mika and I again.

"Soren, I don't think that's just a little bug pal," I tell him. "I'm getting bad vibes from it."

He gapes at me, "Ooh," then leans in to speak in a low voice, "like Elf senses?"

I chuckle under my breath at the comment, "I don't think so," I say, "but how many talking purple caterpillars have you ever seen?"

He thinks about the question, "I'd have to say none," he replies

"Exactly," I pause, watching Viren, "it almost looks as if he's talking to someone else now. But there is no one in front of him." I say in a hushed voice.

Soren observes his father, "Yeah, definitely a strange little bug-pal." He looks behind us, "let's get a chat in with Mr. No Smiles," he tells me before slowing down a bit.

I follow his lead.

"Hey, man. I'm Soren," he says, then points to me, "this is (Y/n)," I give a little smile. He doesn't return it. "I don't think I caught your name."
