Celeste still stayed to herself for weeks after Christmas. She refused to talk to anyone, no matter how hard they tried to talk to her. She had even began to ignore Oliver and his friends again, much to Oliver's dismay. Gretchen had been angry with Celeste as the weeks passed, so she decided to go to the one boy who she knew talked to Celeste last; Oliver Wood. As soon as Gretchen had walked into the Great Hall, she stomped over to the Gryffindor table and grabbed Oliver by his robe.
"Whoa! What are you doing?!" He exclaimed, as he was practically dragged out of the Great Hall.
Percy and Weston had followed close behind; afraid that the Slytherin girl would hex their friend. Gretchen shoved Oliver against a wall, keeping her one hand clenching his robe, as her other hand held her wand to Oliver's neck.
"What did you do to her?" Gretchen seethed, causing Oliver's eyebrows to furrow.
"What are you talking about? Who are you talking about?" Oliver asked, trying not to feel intimidated by the angry Slytherin.
"Celeste! What did you do to Celeste?!" She exclaimed, shoving the tip of her wand into his neck.
"I didn't do anything to her! How could I have?! She hasn't talked to me!" He replied, making the girl growl.
"I've seen you around her. I seen you in her compartment. I seen you following her around. You had to have said something to her. You had to have did something. What have you been putting into her head? Why has she been ignoring us?" Gretchen snapped, causing Oliver to shake his head.
"I haven't done anything to her! I haven't said anything either!" He exclaimed, and the girl sneered.
"You liar!" She yelled,"Do you know what will happen when Mr. Malfoy finds out about her hanging out with you? Do you know what will happen to her if he knows she's befriending Gryffindors--" Gretchen commented,"being more than just friendly with a halfblood," The words coming out of her mouth as if they were poison to her,"You might as well have ruined her life. So tell me, Wood, what have you said to Celeste?!" She spat, her wand digging so hard into Oliver's throat, he believed it would draw blood.
Celeste had been running late for breakfast, since she had stayed up late the night before reading a scolding letter from her uncle about how she had been treating everyone in the Slytherin house that was pure blood. She still treated Draco as she always did, but she was more distant that usual. He had been the one to send a letter to his mother; not knowing his father would read it, so he unintentionally got his cousin into trouble. Celeste was angry with Draco and Lucius now though, and there wasn't much anyone could do to change her mind.
When she rounded the corner to head to the Great Hall, her eyes widened when she seen Gretchen practically stabbing Oliver with her wand to his neck. Celeste seen Percy and Weston close by, but neither boy wanted to engage Gretchen, since she was in such an angry state. Celeste quickly ran over though, not wanting things to escalate. She didn't want her friend to get in trouble for threatening another student, and she didn't want Gretchen hurting Oliver, even if she wouldn't openly say that to anyone if they asked.
"Gretchen! Stop!" She exclaimed, coming to a stop beside Gretchen and Oliver.
"Wha--now you talk to me! I had to go as far as threatening a Gryffindor halfblood to get you to talk to me?! What's your problem?!" Gretchen exclaimed, turning to Celeste; releasing Oliver from her hold.
"I'm sorry, I've been dealing with things. I can't really explain it, and I'm sorry, but you don't have to threaten Wood. He has nothing to do with my mood. If you'd like to know, it's simply the Malfoy men that seem to be my problem." Celeste spat, and Gretchen frowned.
"What did they do this time?" Gretchen asked, her demeanor changing drastically.
"They're being their natural selves. I can't handle them right now." Celeste replied, before walking away from Gretchen.
Instead of turning to Oliver and apologizing for her behavior, Gretchen simply turned to the boy with a glare, before running off after her friend. As soon as Gretchen was gone, Percy and Weston ran over to their friend.
"Are you alright?" Weston asked, and Oliver nodded.
"Celeste stopped Gretchen before she could do any real damage. I might have a bruise on my neck for a bit though." Oliver replied, his mind clouded with worry about Celeste.
Oliver wanted to know what Celeste meant when she said she was having trouble with the Malfoy men. Normally, he would hear her complain about her uncle, but he was fairly surprised to hear her complain about Draco. She always seemed to love Draco and say such nice things about him, even when he did wrong, but it seemed something had changed.
"I was surprised to see Celeste helping you." Percy commented, and Weston somewhat nodded in agreement.
"You two don't see just how nice of a person Celeste is. She's just hiding it so her family doesn't punish her for being a good person." Oliver said, crossing his arms.
"We're not saying she's a bad person--" Percy began, but Oliver cut him off.
"That's what you were implying. She's a nice girl, and if I have to, I will be the one to help her finally realize that she doesn't have to follow the rules of her family to be happy and accepted. I like her for who she is, and not what she can do for my name." Oliver retorted, before turning away and heading to the Great Hall for the remainder of breakfast.
Percy and Weston looked at each other and shook their heads. The two couldn't help but believe their friend was totally lost in his love and obsession with Celeste Black...
