A week into being at Hogwarts, Celeste was called into Dumbledore's office. Celeste didn't purposely get in trouble, mostly because she knew her aunt and uncle would punish her severely for anything she did. The girl was concerned for herself when she learned she had to go to Dumbledore's office, but when she entered the office and seen the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, sitting in the office, along with a couple aurors, Celeste knew she was more than just in trouble for something simple.
"Please, have a seat Miss Black," Fudge had said, motioning to a seat near Dumbledore's desk.
Celeste could tell it was more of a demand than a request, but she didn't argue. The moment she sat down, everything changed.
"Miss Black--" Fudge began, before Celeste cut him off.
"It's Malfoy, Uncle Lucius saw to it that everyone uses the name Malfoy," Celeste commented, causing the man to sigh.
"Miss Malfoy, did you have anything to do with your father breaking out of Azkaban?" He asked, cutting straight to the serious questions.
"No, Minister, I didn't. Matter of fact, I haven't spoken to my father since he went to Azkaban. I wouldn't even remember if I ever had a real conversation with him before he was convicted," Celeste replied, and the Minister narrowed his eyes.
"Miss Malfoy, keep in mind that if you lie, you will be put in Azkaban yourself for helping your father," An auror stated, causing Celeste frown.
"I had nothing to do with my father's escape. I was locked in the manor all summer, and I never even sent an owl out once. You can ask anyone, they'll tell you the same thing," Celeste argued,"Actually, I want to know why you never came to me for questioning the moment he broke out. You've known for a while, yet you're just questioning me now. Why is that?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"Well, we've been very busy, and--" Fudge tried to lie, but Celeste was pretty good at knowing when someone was lying.
Celeste knew often when someone was lying, since her aunt and uncle use to try to lie to her all the time when she was younger. Luckily, she learned how to tell when someone was lying at an early age, so she could call them out on their bogus lies real quick.
"No," Celeste said, cutting Fudge off,"you just didn't want to question me in front of my uncle, because you knew he wouldn't allow this. He would be furious with you for assuming that I had anything to do with Sirius Black's escape. Matter of fact, I will be contacting my uncle the moment I leave this room, because you are all interrogating me without a guardian present, and you're threatening me. I feel very attacked and frightened by the way you have been treating me. I bet my uncle would love to hear all of what you've done," Celeste stated, causing Fudge to let out a nervous breath.
"I'm sorry, Miss Malfoy," Fudge replied,"You're right. We have no evidence that you've helped him. We will let you go, but if you hear anything, please let us know. We don't need a killer on the loose, you and everyone else could be in extreme danger," He added, before he motioned for her to leave.
"Miss Malfoy," Dumbledore called, before the girl left his office,"I have spoken to your professors, and they're giving you a free day. We had a feeling you weren't going to come out of here happy," He said, and she simply nodded.
As soon as she left the office, she went straight to the owlery. Yes, the threat of sending an owl to her uncle had simply been a threat to the Minister, but she knew she really did have to tell her uncle what happened. She knew Draco would find out if she didn't, and he would spin the truth, based off of whatever someone in the Slytherin house may tell him, and he would tell his father. So, Celeste decided it was best for her if she told him everything right away.
Honestly, Celeste knew he'd take care of everything for her. Even if she hated him, and she knew he caused her so many problems, he would still help her with trouble like this. Besides, he always wanted more ways to have the Minister in his back pocket. So, since the Minister had practically threatened Celeste with time in Azkaban over false claims, Lucius could use that to blackmail the Minister and get what he wanted.
Celeste wasn't a fan of helping her uncle, especially when it came to giving him more power in the Ministry with his dark magic, but she couldn't help it this time. Besides, she wasn't a big fan of Fudge or Dumbledore, so getting them in trouble was a major plus in her book. Technically Dumbledore didn't do much, but he also didn't defend her when Fudge was throwing accusations at her, so that meant he was in the wrong just like the Minister.
She wondered if the old oaf believed she helped her father escape Azkaban. The truth was, Celeste wondered if she would ever see her father again, especially now that he had broken out of Azkaban, but she severely doubted it. Honestly, throughout the week, she had heard about Sirius Black a lot, but it mostly revolved around him betraying his friends. She never heard much else, but she did hear a snippet from her aunt and uncle that he had hurt the Potters, meaning everything revolved around Harry Potter.
Everything seemed to revolve around the boy. At first, Celeste felt a little bad for him, since she knew being in the spotlight all the time could cause issues, but it seemed to her that he enjoyed it. He was always everyone's favorite, and it really pissed her off. To hear his name everyday made her skin crawl. She just wished someone would've taken care of the Dark Lord before the whole Harry fiasco, then she wouldn't have to hear so much about the fool all the time...
