Chapter 87

"Time to wake up, sleepyhead," Shawn whispered in my ear after my snoozed alarm went off for the second time.

I groaned loudly. "It's too early."

We hadn't gone anywhere on Saturday, but on Sunday I indulged my boyfriend by agreeing to a fall outing after he looked online and found a farm with a pumpkin patch about an hour outside of the city. The drive was beautiful because the of the bright blue skies and partially-leafed trees, but what made it wonderful was holding hands as we listened to the playlists we'd made each other. Mine was very eclectic in terms of time periods, where his was all recent music that crossed a variety of genres. They complemented one another really well, and we enjoyed sharing why certain songs were significant to us.

At the farm, we picked out pumpkins, though I told him mine would be for decoration, not for carving. After that we went on a long hayride that took us by the cows, horses, pigs, and sheep. There was a store inside a large barn where we bought apple cider and warm cinnamon doughnuts, which Shawn was willing to eat despite the gluten. Then we took a walk through the orchards, stopping frequently to kiss under the fragrant trees.

It was a lovely excursion, but it left me tired. It didn't help that we stayed up late watching a scary movie, and it's not like we went right to sleep when it was over. Since we'd starting having sex, we couldn't get enough of each other.

He started nibbling on my neck and something felt very off, so I rolled over and looked at him. "What's going on here?"

He gave me a wide smile, revealing a pair of press-on vampire teeth. "Happy Halloween."

There was something extremely sexy about his fangs, and I couldn't deny that Shawn Mendes made an unusually appealing vampire. "Are you going to bite me?" I asked.

His eyebrows shot up. "Would you like me to?"

"I mean...I wouldn't mind if you were into that." My checks burned from blushing since this was a bit unlike me.

"Maybe this is how I get you to love Halloween again."

"I think you need to give the maximum effort in trying," I told him as I ran my index finger over one of the realistic looking pointed teeth.

His eyes grew dark. "I'm a Leo. I don't half-ass anything."

"Thank god for that," I rasped before pulling him in for a kiss. This time I grazed my tongue across the fangs, which was super arousing. I'd been into the Twilight series in middle school, so it's not like this was the first time I'd been turned on by a vampire. Edward Cullen had been an integral part of my sexual awakening, which I was a bit embarrassed about now given how misogynistic the books were and how controlling he was as a partner.

We kissed for several minutes, but then Shawn's lips left mine and moved to my neck where he gently nipped at my tender skin. If he left a mark, I didn't care since I could always wear a turtleneck to my dad's later.

"I vant to suck your blood," Shawn said with a terrible fake Transylvanian accent as he climbed on top of me.

Giggling, I tilted my head back to give him better access to my jugular vein and pulled his body so that it covered mine. It was obvious that he was enjoying the role playing as much as I was. He began to swivel his hips, and because we were already naked, this meant he was dangerously close to accidentally entering me without a condom. We'd had a long talk the day before about when and if we could quit using them. I was on the pill, and we were both disease free, so we agreed that once we were ready, we'd stop.

Shawn moved his head down to my breasts and as his teeth latched onto my nipples, things ramped up exponentially. I gasped as he bit down lightly, giving me the deliciously erotic sensation of pain mixed with pleasure. He took his time maneuvering from one breast to the other, using his thumb and forefinger to roll the nipple not being attended to by his mouth.
