Part 5! Eye of the Storm

He/Him

2nd POV
♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎

After the evacuation off of Tatooine with Nephal and Elpída, life has been rather slow and normal. Normal to the point of boredom. When you first arrived on Hoth to assist the Rebels in anyway possible, Nephal was already pregnant. She'd sensed it was a boy the second he was conceived, which was incredible to you. But, it was almost time for the baby to be born, and the Empire had discovered the Rebellion on Hoth.

Loud, blinking sirens filled the cramped, snow-covered hallways of the Rebel base. Panic was everywhere. Men and women of all species were running about, packing their supplies. Many were going to leave in an attempt to outrun the Empire for as long as they could.
And then there were others, like you and your little family, who weren't gonna run. Despite the Daughter being ready to pop, she was brave. Nephal was willing to risk her life to ensure the survival of the Rebels for as long as she could. You, however, were conflicted on the matter. With both of your children and wife on Hoth, tensions were high. The Emperor already wanted Elpída more than anything, and the fact that you had joined up with the Rebels made him angrier and more ambitious.

You couldn't wrap your head around why the Empire wanted your sweet daughter besides to destroy her, like how Darth Vader had done at the conclusion of The Clone Wars to all the Jedi Knights. You could feel your blood beginning to boil. No one would get close to even look at your children.

"We have to get a move on!" the voice of Nephal cracked over the overwhelming emergency sirens. The woman was clenching her pregnant belly. Her hand was wrapped around Elpída's in an attempt to keep her from running off. It's no doubt that the child could sense the Dark Side illuminating the halls. She is terrified.

I raced over and collected little Elpída in my arms while carefully guiding Nephal down the freezing hallways of Echo Base. The Empire must have knocked out the controls to the base, because the normal temperature that filled the halls had gone down about 40 degrees. It was never comfortable on Hoth, regardless if you're staying in a 5-Star-Hotel, or in Echo Base, but at least it was never bitterly cold.
Elpída's teeth chattered silently, and scared tears dripped down her cheeks. Your heart shattered into a million pieces while watching your daughter suffer, but you needed to focus. Your whole family was on the line here.

Your little family stumbled into the hallway; flinching immediately as a chunk of the ice wall plummeted to the floor; a giant BOOM following. The Empire's forces had obviously hit the base once again.

Wiping sweat from your forehead, you began scanning the surroundings, "Where's Flash and Clive?" you questioned, referencing your Commando Droids from the Clone Wars, which had served you.
You knew Captain Han Solo needed the two for working around Echo Base, so they could be anywhere in this snow prison. However, at the sounds of blaster fire, you knew they'd come running, so they'll be here eventually.

Another shaky blast, then silence.

"If the Empire has stopped firing at the base, they're probably dispensing troops in," your wife whispered while holding your shoulder as you walked.
Nephal was doing her very best to keep up. She was placing all her weight on your shoulders as she walked slowly behind. Seeing the Daughter in pain hurt you in ways you didn't know was possible until you met her.
