Time flew in a bliss. It feels like just yesterday I was stressing about not wanting to go home and about how I would get rid of Noah that keeps on bothering me. But now, everyone had graduation on their minds considering that the ceremony is happening in less than two hours from now.
For the past months, I felt like I couldn't ask for more. My brother was slowly being able to handle his temper and stop snapping at everyone. Anthony was looking like a permanent fixture in our house and in our lives. My mom started looking happier than ever. And I had watched my friends slowly go their own paths.
With Noah, everything started feeling surreal. Minsan napapisip na talaga ako kung klaseng karma ang matatanggap ko in exchange for the life i've been living for these months. Noah made me feel even more complete. He made me feel like he would never do anything to hurt me or even let anything hurt me.
"Ready ka na bang mag-med school." Pananakot saakin ng kuya ko as I stood in the living room with my gown and cap on.
"Hindi na pwedeng hindi." I joked back.
"Hindi ka naman namin ipe-pressure na gumawa ng hindi mo gusto. You can take a stop kung kailangan mo." Anthony said and my mom nodded.
"Gusto ko 'to. I promise. I've put a lot of thought into it." I gave them an assuring smile.
The four of us drove over to our school para umattend na sa ceremony. Gusto ko pa sanang magpakita sa mga kaibigan ko at kay Noah, pero ipinapaayos na kami ng upo ng mga teachers kaya hindi ko na 'yon nagawa. I tried to look for them in the crowd, pero si Azira lang ang nakita ko.
Naka dalawang oras din ang mga announcements and speeches ng mga teachers and guess speakers.
The main ceremony went smoothly. Most of our batch-mates passed and there were also a list of honors with about 30 people. Kasama doon sila Trixy, Aidan, and Grey.
When the ceremony officially ended, saka ko palang nakaharap ang aking mga kaibigan. We all had matching toga's and smiles on our faces kaya hindi namin napigilang magpicture. We all wanted to cherish the moment and keeping it alive through a photograph is the best way we could.
Of course, hindi din ako pumayag na magbihis nang walang picture na kasama si Noah. We took so many photos at school bago kami nagkanya-kanya ng uwi. We all wanted to celebrate together pero nag-agree kaming lahat na sa isang araw nalang para maka-celebrate kami ngayon kasama ang mga pamilya namin.
Once we got home, madami nang nakahain na pag-kain sa lamesa namin. There was also some decorations and a cake that wrote "Congrats to our only girl.", prepared by Yaya Glenda while we were at the ceremony.
It was all fun hanggang sa narealize ko kung ano talaga ang totoong meaning ng naka-sulat sa cake. I was the only girl. But my brother isn't the only boy.
I was introduced to a younger boy who was around 14 years old. He was my brother, as according to Anthony.
Hindi na nagulat si kuya and my mom already knew about him. I had so many mixed emotions. I was shocked, scared, sad, mad, and so many others that I can't even name.
I wasn't the youngest child anymore. I was a middle child.
It was all so much for me to take in that I had to get outside to breath.
"Hi, ate." The boy followed me.
"Hi? Mateo?" I said unsurely.
"Yup. You can call me Theo." Sabi niya. "Are you okay?"
"Oo naman. Nagulat lang ako." Amin ko.
"I'm not scary I promise. Wala naman akong aagawin sa'yo." He smiled.
