"Okay ka lang miss?" Tamara came and tried to console me on my office after everyone calmed down from the announcement.
"Oo naman. Masaya na ako sa posisyon ko ngayon." I smiled.
"Kinausap niyo po 'yung dad niyo 'no?" She asked.
"Yeah. But that doesn't matter because Mateo deserves it just as much, if not more than I do." Linaw ko pa.
I overthought about this moment. Na baka kapag naibigay na talaga kay Theo, kapag alam na ng lahat, pagsisihan ko ang desisyon ko. Na baka bigla akong magsisi. But I didn't. I was proud of my family, and myself too.
As the sun set on the city and all the lights came from the buildings, I decided to congratulate my brother. Required ba 'yon sa'kin? Hindi naman. I just wanted to tell him congratulations and I don't think I would be able to go home without doing so.
"Congratulations!" Panira ko sa katahimikan sa office niya.
"Why did you do that?" He asked me in his serious tone.
"Because I'm happy." Ngiti ko ulit.
"No. Why did you tell dad to give me the company?"
I felt the expression on my face fade. "Sinabi niya sa'yo?"
"Hindi. I'm not dumb enough to think that you didn't. Bakit mo ginawa 'yon? Why would you back out like that?" Kumunot ang noo niya at napagaya naman ako sakaniya.
"Hindi naman sa nagback out ako. I just don't want it that bad anymore. I like what I'm doing now. Wala namang magbabago sa nararamdaman ko kung ako ang napunta sa posisyon mo. I'll still be the same. So why would I still want it like I thought I did?" I gently explained.
"What about you?"
"Masaya na ako na nagtatrabaho ako para sa'yo. I mean, that is if you decide to keep me here." Biro ko.
"Of course I will. Ano akala mo? Nag-aacting lang ako na di na ako galit sa'yo?" He walked towards me and gave me a soft hug followed by him whispering in my ear, "Thank you, ate."
"Nagpasalamat ka pa. Naki-epal na nga lang ako sa daan mo papunta dyan sa pangarap mo eh." Biro ko ulit.
"It was a challenge I deserved and enjoyed. Kung wala ka, iisipin ko na hindi ko deserve ang posisyon ko. Na nakuha ko lang lahat dahil sa pangalan ko."
"You deserved it Theo. It was nice being your co-manager. I look forward to the future you have planned for your company."
"The future we plan for our company." He corrected. "Parang iiwan mo naman saakin lahat ng pagdedesisyon."
"Well isn't that your job as a CEO? To make all the decisions?" Tumaas ang kilay ko.
"And I decide that you have just as much power of making a decision as I do. Nasa ating dalawa ang lahat ng desisyon. Paano kung magkamali ako? Hahayaan mo lang?" Pag-klaro niya.
"Sabi mo 'yan boss ah." I smiled at him once again.
Magpapaalam na dapat ako sakaniya na uuwi na ako but just as I opened my mouth to say the words to, may kumatok sa pintuan ng office niya.
"Hi." Mahinang bati ni Noah.
"Pinapauwi ka na 'ata." Biro ulit saakin ni Theo.
"Take your time." Sabi naman ni Noah.
"Actually, magpapaalam na talaga ako. But before that, ipapakilala muna kita sa baging CEO." Ngiti ko kay Noah.
"There was a decision already?" He asked, shocked. "Who?"
