"Paint shopping?" Naka-kunot ang noong tanong ko.

"You'll see why. Ano? Sama ka ba?" Tanong niya ulit with a smirk on his lips.

"Why would you even need to go paint shopping?" Tanong ko.

"It's a... surprise." Amin naman niya.

"Surprise? Para kanino?"

"Sa'yo." Ngiti niya.

"Bakit sa'kin?"

"'Wag kang magtanong. It's a surprise nga diba." Mas lumaki lang ang ngiti niya.

"What surprise could you be planning at kailangan natin ng paint?" Tuloy ko pa'din.

"Malalaman mo din. Now, kung ayaw mo sumama, i'll go by myself." Lumakad siya palabas ng kusina.

"Wait lang! Sama ako!" I followed.

He turned to look back at me. Papunta na sana ako sa kwarto ko pero nag-salita siya.,

"Good. Now sit." Utos niya.

"Akala ko ba aalis tayo?" Naguguluhan nanamang sabi ko.

"Later, hindi ka pa kumakain." Sabi niya.

Hindi ako gumalaw. Tinignan ko lang siya. I had nothing to say. Or maybe, I just didn't know what to say.

"Dali na ah. We don't have all day." He said with yet another smile forming upon his lips.

"We don't?" I asked, confused once again, as. I sat down on one of the chairs around the circular dining table.

Sinabihan ako ni Noah na 'wag na akong magtanong at kumain nalang para maka-alis na kami, and that's exactly what I did. Syempre, sinabayan niya din ako.

It was just a simple breakfast, 'yan ang paulit-ulit kong sinasabi sa sarili ko. I was trying to convince myself na walang iba sa breakfast na 'to sa iba.

But it wasn't the same. It didn't feel the same. Because it was Noah who cooked for me. It was Noah who sat in front of me.

Iniwasan ko talaga na mag-isip ng kung ano ano, but I couldn't help myself.

What was I even doing?

Living under the same roof as him, eating the breakfast he made for me. Was this going slow? Was this him trying to prove that he's changed?

"Do you miss them?" Putol ni Noah sa train of thought ko.

"Ha?" I spat.

"Your family? Do you miss them?" He asked again.

I had no other way to describe his tone except for gentle.

He has always been this way. He was always so gentle. And I never would've expected it. I mean who would. Kung titignan mo siya ngayon, you might think of him as anything but gentle.

"Hindi naman. It hasn't even been a day. Saka nasanay na din ako na wala sila when I spent my years in Italy." Amin ko.

He didn't say anything, kaya tinignan ko siya. He was looking at me with a weird expression.

"Okay ka lang?" Tanong ko.

"Oo naman. Why wouldn't I be?" He asked with same weird look on his face

"'Wag mo akong tignan nang ganyan." Utos ko.

"Like what?"

"Like that. As if your solving a math problem." Sabi ko.

He laughed. "Okay. I'll stop." And then plastered his smile on his face again.
