I opened the door but didn't move closer to them.
They both looked shocked while looking at me. Now I realize why Anthony looked familiar, he looks like my brother but in his late forties.
"I have a lot of questions, but I'll start with why." I started and turned around to walk back to the couch hoping they'd both get the hint and follow me in.
I sat down and crossed my arms in front of me to hide the shakiness of my hands.
"Sige. I can wait. Pero sana until the end of the day lang yung explanation 'cause I think a whole life of waiting is enough waiting." I looked back and forth at the both of them waiting to see who would talk first.
"Anak.." Umpisa ni Anthony but my brother immediately cut him off.
"Don't you dare call her that." I just sat quietly waiting for the explanation.
"Anak, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not being here. I don't know what I was thinking. Pero ngayon, gusto kong makabawi sainyo ng kapatid mo. Just give me a chance, I swear hindi ko na ito sasayangin." He totally ignored my brother but that didn't matter to me anymore.
"Sorry is not enough for the seventeen years you were gone." Sabat ni kuya.
"Will you just let him talk for christ's sake." Bara ko. I'm trying to get my explanation but he keeps on interrupting.
He shot me a sharp gaze before finally shutting up.
"You don't know why you left? So why did you come back?" I needed to ask questions to get the answers I wanted. I have a gut feeling that if I don't, he would say complete nonsense.
"Para makabawi ako sa'yo. Sainyo." He gestured to me and my brother. I heard my brother scoff in disagreement but I just ignored that.
"You don't even know me. Bakit mo gugustuhing pasukin ang responsibilidad ng pagiging tatay mo ngayon? Bakit ngayon lang?"
"Because you're my daughter."
"And I've always been. Kung 'yan ang idadahilan mo, edi sana bumalik ka kaagad. Bumalik ka bago pa ako natutong maglakad. Pero ngayon? Ngayon na hindi na kita kailangan?" I tried to stop myself from saying unnecessary words. I also tried to keep my composure.
"I can't answer that question, Lia. Pero I can give or do anything you want para makabawi ako at tanggapin niyo ako bilang magulang niyo." He looked me straight in the eye. Now I know where my brother gets his ways.
"I'm home!" mabilis na napatingin kaming lahat sa pinto noong narinig namin si mom.
"I am too. Surprise." Anthony said with yet another wide smile on.
Did my mom not know he was here? Or was wanting to come back into our lives?
"Ano ba Anthony?! Sabi namin maghintay ka kung kailan namin sabihin! Bakit bigla bigla ka nalng lumitaw dito?!" My mom tried to stop herself from yelling pero mababakas sa boses niya ang panggigigil.
She knew.
"Ako lang ang walang alam?" I cut. "You were hiding him from me. For how long?"
"One week." Mom looked to the ground.
"Siya 'yung sinundo mo noong last sunday?" I asked my brother and he nodded.
"So you thought it was a good idea to hide it from me?" Tuloy ko pa.
"We decided to tell you once we worked out our relationships." Sabi ni kuya referring to the three of them.
"After working out your relationships? Paano naman ako? I've been dying inside for days trying to figure out why you both went mentally gone. You never tried to work out your relationship, kung hindi tahimik, puro talo kayo for the whole week." I targeted my brother and mother.
