I was putting my socks on the next morning, when I heard my kuya's voice. It wasn't that loud but I still heard it. It sounded like he was really mad.
I hurriedly slid my shoes on so I can see what's going on downstairs. I was on the last step when I started hearing whispers from the living room. I accidentally started eavesdropping.
"Mom, it's been 17 years. Bat kailangan mo pa'ng gawin to?" My kuya was whispering, probably so I couldn't hear anything. Maybe they thought I was still in the shower.
"I know Axel. I'll just try it. Pag nangyari ulit sakin yung nangyari dati, then I will stop right away. I promise." I heard my mom say.
The conversation sounded really important and I hate when people are serious, so I decided to let them know that I'm here. I took a few steps back and made a loud thumping sound with my feet.
"Good morning!" I said happily. "Ano kuya? Aga ko 'no? Dali na alis na tayo baka malate pa tayo." I grabbed my bag and put it on my shoulder.
"Hindi pa 'ko kumakain Lia. Plus it's so early, hindi ka malelate." He stood up from the sofa where both him and my mother were sat, and went to the kitchen.
"Good morning mom! Okay ka lang? You look sick." I went closer to her and let my hand touch the side of her neck. "Di ka naman mainit. Did something happen?"
"Nothing you need to worry about. Okay lang ako baka napuyat lang ako." She assured me with a smile. "Tara kumain na tayo don. I made you a breakfast sandwich."
Pagkarating namin sa kusina nakita ko si kuya na masama ang tingin sa pagkain niya.
"What did the eggs do to you this time? Sinabihan ka ba nilang pangit?" I laughed when he gave me a deadly glare. "Sorry kuya, but the truth hurts." I put my hand to my chest and pretended I was in pain to tease him.
"Okay, I'm leaving. Bye mom!" He proceeded to stand up then went to get his car.
"I was just joking! Kuya naman! Hindi pako kumakain! Hintayin moko!" I yelled but he didn't even think of turning around. "Pikon." I whispered to myself.
"Lia, eto na breakfast mo. Binalot ko nalang at baka iwan ka talaga ng kuya mo na 'yon." she handed me a ziplock bag with a sandwich inside.
I smiled. "Bye mom! Thank you!" then I ran outside. "Kuya! Eto na 'ko oh! Teka lang naman! Mga 7 seconds pwede na!" I was yelling because he was already starting his car.
He started teasing me by slowly moving the car further away from me. I ran faster and when I got in the car I hit his arm.
"Ano ba! Nagdadrive ako dito oh!" He said with a wide smile on his face.
"We're barely moving stop being dramatic." I got my sandwich out of the ziplock bag then started eating it.
"Bawal kumain dito. Dugyot ka pa naman kumain." Kuya scolded me.
"Since when was I dugyot?" I wrinkled my forehead then he gave me a quick glance then laughed even harder. "Ano nanaman?"
"Tignan mo nga may mayonaise kapa sa labi." I wiped my lip and just stopped talking for the rest of the ride to school.
During the whole ride to school my brother had a weird looking smile on. From time to time I will catch him looking at me while I was eating.
"Good morning!" bungad sakin ni Azira pag dating ko sa building ng room namin.
"Hey! Morning. Aga mo ngayon ah?" Sinabayan niya ko sa pagakyat ng hagdan.
"Maaga naman talaga ako lagi. 'Di mo lang alam kasi lagi kang late." She teased then laughed loudly.
"Huy! Ang aga aga kaingay mo. We're not in a party or something." I scolded her then stopped in front of my classroom door.
"Lagi naman akong maingay. I thought you were used to it already." she started walking backwards. "See you later!"
When I was about to enter the room someone bumped into me. I was waiting for a sorry while fixing my posture but I didn't hear anything.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I raised an eyebrow while looking at the girl infront of me. She didn't respond so it looked like we were having a staring contest right in front of the door. "Do you need anything?" I politely asked.
"Even if I needed something I won't ask you, Keylia. And stop that nice act you have. Alam ko naman na di ka talaga gan'yan. Hindi ka nga nagsorry nung nabangga mo 'ko." my eyes widened and my jaw almost dropped.
"Well, I guess I'm sorry for you being stupid and you running into me, Xelene." I smiled at her. Nothing fake, a genuine smile even.
"If you two are going to start a fight, please don't do it in the middle of my way." One of our classmates butted in.
"Hey noah!" Xelene greeted the guy although he looked like he wasn't interested to talk to anyone.
Hindi ko nalang pinansin yon at tuluyan na akong pumasok sa room. Pagkaupo ko napalingon naman ako sa pintuan kung nasan yung dalawa kanina.
Okay, a little back story. Xelene has been my classmate since the third grade. We never became friends nor ever agreed on anything, although we almost watched each other grow up. Basically hating each other is our daily routine. Not like I hate her or anything, I just don't like her. Hating is just the easy way to describe it.
A few minutes later, our teacher came in the room and greeted everyone. We started doing what we do almost everyday. Discussion of our Lesson, Voluntary recetation, etc.
Time passed and the lunch bell rang as an indication that lunch time has officially started. We all immediately stood up and left the room.
Dumeretso ako sa canteen and I waited for my friends on our lunch table, or what I claimed as ours for today. It didn't take long for me to wait because only one or two minutes after I sat down my two friends entered the cafeteria.
"Hey Trix! Don't tell me na pati ikaw mainit ulo ngayon?" I asked when I noticed she looked irritated.
"Actually, I am." She admitted as she sat down in front of me.
"I'll get the food." Azira volunteered and left without waiting for an answer.
I looked back at Trixy. "What happened now?" She placed both her hands on the table trying to calm herself down.
"'Di ko nga alam. Probably just woke up in a bad mood." We both laughed at her nonsense.
"Lahat naman ata ngayon. I heard my kuya kinda yelling at our mom earlier, and then Xelene bumped into me and expected me to say sorry." Trixy rolled her eyes at the mention of the name. I slightly laughed because of that. "Tapos, this Noah kid cut in the middle of our conversation. Not that it's a bad thing though." I continued.
"Pano'ng nag cut?" she asked while getting up to help Zira with the food.
"He was like if two are going to fight please don't do it in my way." I mimicked the way the guy sounded earlier which made the two girls laugh.
We were already eating when the rest of our friend group came to join us.
"'Di kayo marunong maghintay 'no?" Kian, one of our friends joked.
"Mabagal lang kayo." Zira fired back.
We all enjoyed our lunch and parted ways when the first bell rang, meaning classes are about to start.
While walking to my classroom I could see that Noah guy talking to some girls infront of our room. I smirked when I thought of an idea to get back at him.
I walked towards them then stopped about a foot away. I started staring at them with a serious face until they noticed me.
"May kailangan ka?" Noah asked me.
"If you guys are going to flirt with each other please don't do it in front of me." Then I smiled before turning around to enter the room.
