As weeks passed by, mas naging focused ako sa trabaho. Hindi ko padin nakakasama lahat ng mga kaibigan ko pero alam na nila na nandito ako.
I spent all my time focusing on work and it feels so surprising coming home after a whole day of work feeling exited to do more work the next morning.
I enjoyed what I was doing kahit sobrang challenging 'yon.
Noah also started acting professional just like he said. He never asked me questions that aren't business related at hindi niya na din ako binibisita sa office lagi.
Today I was tasked to go to the possible new site para makita kung maayos ba ito. Kasama ko talaga dapat dito si Theo but we decided to split our tasks for today dahil hindi namin kayang pagsabayin. Plus, someone had to stay at the company to manage the employees.
"Ms. Fernandez?" Tawag saakin ni Tamara. "Visitor."
Tumango ako sa kaniya as a sign to let whoever wanted to see me in my office.
"You're going to the new site today, diba?" Bungad ni Noah.
"Yes that's the plan." I answered without taking my eyes off the paperwork I was reading.
"Pupunta din ako so I could see the place. Baka kailangan mo ng ride?" He offered.
"I do actually. Do you mind kung sasabay ako?" I turned to look at him.
As I said, me and Noah have finally learned to keep things between us professional. We learned how to conceal our past and discard all our questions. Naka-rely sa actions niya ang investment niya, and I try my best to stay professional to stop myself from hurting.
"Not at all. Okay na ba ngayon na tayo pumunta?" Tanong niya.
"Yes. May tatapusin lang ako saglit. I won't take more than five minutes. Mauna ka na sa labas, i'll see you there." Sabi ko and he turned around to leave.
If I didn't know I had a past with him, iisipin kong hindi kami magkakilala before both running our family companies. We were both casual and it made things easier.
After making sure I finished everything I needed to do, kinuha ko na yung gamit ko at lumabas na ng building.
I stood outside the doors, scoping the place to see if Noah's car was already there.
"Here." I heard him call out.
I saw him standing next to a familiar maroon colored truck.
That damn maroon truck.
Napahinga ako ng malalim bago lumapit sakaniya. I braced myself for a crash of emotions.
Lumapit ako sa truck at binuksan ang pinto ng passengers seat.
Oh gosh, it's higher than I remembered.
"I'm sorry, kailangan mo ba ng tulong?" Noah asked, sitting comfortably in his seat.
"No, i'm fine." Ngiti ko.
I tried my hardest to reach the handle which was already to high.
"Here." Noah spoke.
Tumingin ako sakaniya. He had his hand out for me to grab on. I felt a heavy weight fall on my chest as unwanted memories came rushing in.
"I can do it." Tanggi ko, still trying my best to get in.
Sinubukan ko ulit na iangat ang sarili ko, but I failed.
"No you can't." Mahinang sabi ni Noah as he got out of his truck.
"Kaya ko nga." I said trying to carry myself up again just to end up with my feet no where further from the ground than it was seconds ago.
"Just let me." Noah said.
