Blyke, Isen, Remi, and I finally finished giving our statements to the authorities around ten at night. We were all exhausted, but despite my subtle hints that the boys should go back to their dorms to get some sleep before school tomorrow, they all insisted that we go to Remi's dorm to talk about my family situation.
"So, what was that security guard talking about with your sister?" Isen asked as he flopped on our couch.
"Yeah, and you said you know a lot about how the authorities control high tiers too." Blyke said.
Remi just looked at me expectantly, as if she'd get mad if I tried to put this off any longer. She must have caught on to my wanting to get out of this conversation.
"I come from a family that used to work for the authorities," I start slowly, quickly having to decide which bits of information I want to keep hidden for a bit longer, "My mother was a very powerful high tier. She could see into the future, though only a few days, and she never got the full story. It got us out of trouble a lot when I was younger, regardless."
"So the government recruited her?" Remi asked.
"Not quite, they recruited her family. She was about our age when her parents started to work for them, and she joined them right out of high school. That's where she met my father, also a high tier, but his ability is all strength. Sooner or later, my sister was born. She has a teleportation ability that allows her to move anything anywhere she can accurately visualize."
"Wait, how do you have temperature control, your sister have teleportation, and your parents have something completely different? That's not how ability genes are supposed to work." Blyke asked.
"Since when do you pay attention in class?" Isen retorted.
"It had to do with abilities, of course I got interested!" Blyke defended.
    "Back on topic!" Remi interjected.
"Right, well my family's ability genes are almost all recessive traits, which causes them to skip many generations most of the time. My mom's though, as far as we are aware, that ability has never existed before. In our family tree or otherwise. Everyone else in our family gets their ability from grandparents or combinations of other past abilities."
"Genes are weird." Blyke said, squinting his eyes like he was still trying to figure out what I was saying.
"Okay, so having lots of high tiers in your family that work directly for the government explains how you know so much about how the authorities keep high tiers under control, but how did your sister end up with an arrest warrant?"
