Chapter 42, Not a Cripple.

    "Hey, Hela, can I talk to you?" Mr. Keene asked me.
    He had come up to me while I was walking to lunch the day after John's incident with Arlo. He seemed a bit off, as if he was worried about something.
    "I suppose, why?" I ask, wondering what could be causing the teacher that, from what I had seen, was usually calm to act so distressed.
    "This should probably be a private discussion, but don't worry, you aren't in any trouble." He said, gesturing me to follow him down the hall.
    I quickly realized that he was leading me to the infirmary.
    'had Remi gotten injured or someone else, Blyke or Isen maybe?' I followed after Mr. Keene quickly, my breathing speeding up by the minute.
    By the time the door shut behind us, I think he could tell that I was starting to panic, but then I noticed that the school doctor was the only other person in the room.
    "We should get right into it. You are aware of who the current King of Wellston is, correct?" Keene asked.
    "If you're referring to Arlo, than yes." I reply.
    "Well, he came into the infirmary this morning. We are trying to figure out how that happened, seeing as everyone knows he is the most powerful student at this school. Our list of suspects is a Seraphina, you, and the most likely suspect, John." The doctor told me.
    "Wait, Seraphina called me yesterday because John was extremely injured. I assumed he got on Arlo's bad side, since he's a cripple and all, but you think he won a fight against the King?" I confirm.
    "We know he isn't a cripple, and that you are aware of his ability as well, which is exactly why he's at the top of our list. He's been irritable since Seraphina got suspended." The doctor grumbled.
    "Still, he's acting like he's a cripple, why would he risk that by attacking Arlo?" I ask.
    "Well, it's possible that Arlo started the fight, but that isn't our main concern here. If John did use his ability, then it's possible that he could relapse into his old tendencies. You of all people know just how bad that would be. We need you to make sure he doesn't go off the deep end." Mr. Keene said. "You're the only one to have ever been able to get through to him when he's like that."
