"Okay, so having lots of high tiers in your family that work directly for the government explains how you know so much about how the authorities keep high tiers under control, but how did your sister end up with an arrest warrant?"
"It's not just my sister, anyone that worked in the same department as my family has one." I tell the group.
"Were they doing something illegal, how could the authorities arrest a whole department like that?" Blyke asked.
"They were doing exactly what the government wanted them to do, most were to scared not too, but the department grew too much. Too many high tiers collected in one place scared the authorities, so when the leaders of the group began to fight with one another, they saw it as an opportunity to arrest as many as they could." I laugh.
"But you haven't been arrested." Isen said.
I have to stop myself from flinching, but I put on a relieved face and say "Nope, I'm too young to technically work most government positions, so they couldn't successfully charge me with anything. Same with two if my cousins."
"That explains why you don't seem to comfortable around the police." Remi stated.
"You noticed?" I ask, surprised.
"Yeah, you were fidgeting the whole time we were handcuffed." She explained.
"I do that anyway, I can't focus unless I'm multitasking." I say, growing more confused.
"You do it more when your nervous." She said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"We've known each other for less than a month, how have you already figured this out?" I ask.
"We don't know, she keeps doing things like this." Blyke said.
"Yep, it's a little terrifying." Isen agreed.
Remi huffed at the 'terrifying' comment, but turned back to me, "don't worry, we'll try to stay out of trouble from now on."
"Well, you all should be doing that anyway, but thanks." I say, actually relieved now.
"Now that that is sorted, I want sleep." Isen says, yawning.
"Yes, I'm about to pass out!" Blyke adds.
"Alright, you two should probably get to your dorms than." I tell the boys.
We quickly exchange goodnights before Blyke and Isen leave our dorm.
Remi yawns as soon as the door closes behind them.
"We should be getting to sleep too." She says before starting to walk down the hallway leading to her room.
"Wait," I call to her, but freeze as she turns to look at me. Before she asks what's wrong, I decided it's too late to back out now, "Thanks for looking out for me."
She smiles, and says "always."
