"John finally apologized?" I ask through my phone as I leave the city library after returning the book I had checked out a few days before.
"Yeah, he was really apologetic about it. He also said he felt bad about ditching your movie night last weekend and that I had to fill in, not that I minded." Remi says through the phone, bewildered.
"Good, took him long enough." I laugh.
"Did you threaten him?" Remi asks, moke suspicion in her voice.
"No, we just had a conversation about how to not be an idiot." I lie.
"You did threaten him!" She accuses.
"No. It was a favor, okay. I'll explain the rest when I get home."
"Does this have something to do with why John didn't show up to that movie night?" Remi asks.
"Yep, I finally got the whole story out of him." I say proudly.
"Get home fast, I can't wait two hours in anticipation." Remi tells me.
"Alright, alright. I'm on my way. Shouldn't be more than ten minutes." I estimate.
"K, see you when you get here, bye." Remi says.
"See you." I reply as I hang up.
I roll my eyes at Remi's enthusiasm for figuring out what was going on between John and Arlo. Between that and tracking down who set up the bets on vigilante deaths, she had practically become Wellston's own private detective. Though, Isen probably already had that title. I laugh to myself as I attempt to put my headphones in and pick a song to listen to while walking.
"Owf." Someone grunts as I bump into them.
I curse my own distractedness before reaching out to help the person I had run into get back to their feet.
"Sorr-" I start to say, but my voice fails me.
I recognize the man's bright blue hair, tied back in a high ponytail. I struggle for a moment to remember the name, but my voice returns as I find it.
"Kuyo?" I ask.
