"Did you do this?" They ask.
"Yes." I told the cops.
Finally, the vision faded. As always, I sat through the vision attempting to keep calm, but the end of them was always a relief.
"You weren't actually on my side, huh?" John signed.
"Of course not. I wanted to help you be a better person again, but that doesn't change the fact that you were a tirant." I tell him sadly, "I miss the kid you used to be, the one that just wanted to help people."
"When did you notice this change in John's behavior?" Mr. Keon asked.
"When he got a handle on his ability. When it first manifested, he just used it to protect himself, and low tiers. When he realized just how powerful it was, that's when he turned to revenge." I mutter, staring down at the table.
"Good, I have the information I need. John, we'll be leaving now." Mr. Keon said, grabbing John's shoulder as if he was going to force him to move.
"Wait!" John almost yelled.
"John! I can't keep forcing you to do every little thing. You'll never get out of here if you keep this up." Mr. Keon lectured, but John didn't waver.
"I just want to tell her something." He whispered. It was quiet, but it had a force to it that made me smile. He hadn't talked like this since before he had turned down this dark path.
Mr. Keon seemed to notice it too, and he sighed. "Fine."
John turned to me, and he wouldn't meet my eyes. It didn't seem like guilt though, more like respect.
"Thank you for stopping me when you did. I'm sorry it got to that point."
"I forgive you, just don't do it again. Got it?" I asked, almost jokingly.
"Promise."
