I get the door open only to see John get hit by a van. He collapses in front of the vehicle, Elaine holding Seraphina just a few feet behind him. Arlo is still at John's bedroom window, but now he looks like he can barely stand.
"John!" Elaine yells, but John doesn't respond.
I start to run over to them, only to see the man I had been fighting a moment earlier teleport to another man laying in the ground near the van. The man I had tied up is draped over his shoulder, luckily still unconscious.
"Are you alright." The one I had been fighting asks.
"Yeah, let's grab the girl and run!" Says the other one, barely managing to sit up.
Elaine is reaching for a knife laying near John when I reach her. "No! Leave us alone!" The blue haired girl yells once she has a hold on the weapon.
I step in front of her and Seraphina, trying to drag John to his feet as he grumbles awake.
"Is this kid for real? He just got hit by a van and he's still not down?!" Yells the injured attacker, and I finally get a good enough look to see that he has a knife in his chest. "Whatever, let's just plow through him again."
"No! We're running out of time. It's going to wear off soon, and when that happens, we're done for!" Says the teleporter.
"What are you two mumbling about?" John growls.
The two attackers run for the back of the van, dragging the third with them.
"Hey!" John yells, running at them while using one of Arlo's barriers to capture the van. "Where do you think you're going?! Get back here!"
The three attackers make it into the van just as it starts to move. The vehicle breaks through the barrier, transferring the damage to John causing him to collapse again.
"John!" Elaine yells as she runs over to him.
The van speeds off before any of us can follow it. As soon as it's out of sight, my legs buckle under me. Only a moment later, the pressure I noticed earlier finally seems to break, but I still feel strangely cold.
