I remember a room, a small square, dark grey walls and dark grey floors. The only part of the room that wasn't dark grey was the table in the center. I sat on one side of that table everyday for months, only being able to travel between that dark room, and a glorified prison cell. That was until one day when I found myself being led towards a different room.
"Where are we going?" I asked, hoping that the nurse who seemed to be the only caring person in the facility wouldn't mind the question.
"Mr. Keon has a different plan for today, you'll see when we get there." Is all she said, but I could hear sympathy in her voice, as though she wanted to warn me about what was about to happen.
Eventually we reached a door, identical to the one that led to the room I was usually in, and inside was the same too, except the person sitting in the chair where I would usually have been told to sit. Instead, there sat the one person I didn't want to see, John.
I froze, unable to move, unable to breathe, until a voice that continues to strike fear into me even to this day spoke from behind me.
"Go sit down, across the table from John." Keon said, already sounding frustrated.
I jumped, nearly out of my skin, but quickly did as I was told. John didn't look up from the spot on the table that he has been staring at since the door to the room opened. I didn't know if he didn't want to face me, or if he even knew I was there in the first place.
"Well, let's get started." Keon said coldly as he walked from the door to stand next to the table, between John and I. Neither of us reacted, we quietly allowed the man to place a hand on each of our heads, and my vision went dark.
