CHAPTER 40

What the hell??

Why am I not able to concentrate on my work, my eyes are fixed on the laptop,in front of me but my mind is somewhere, it's like I'm physically here but mentally somewhere else.

I just can't stop thinking about what happened in that park, it just keeps playing in my head.

As we exited the park, neither of us spoke, the whole car drive was silent, Warren was silent and that's triggering me. Even in the morning, Warren left for his office early and I couldn't even talk to him.

Is he avoiding me?

Please god, don't make him avoid me..

Please..

The door to my cabin suddenly opened, it was Daisy.
"Hey, Reb!" She waved her hand.
"Any news?" She winked.

"Daisy?" I rolled my eyes as she just chuckled.

"Happy birthday" she chirped.
"So, like always, is it me who wished you first?" She asked.

"Nope, this time it's Warren"

"Woah!!"
"And gift?" She asked.

I showed her the chain,which was in my neck.

"Aww! It's so cute" she cooed.
"So did he plan a surprise for you?" She asked.

"We sneaked out of our house and went for a long drive.." a smile made it's way to my lips.
"And then we went to the park, there was a peaceful silence between us until Warren kissed me...." I abruptly stopped my sentence and glanced at Daisy. Her eyes grew big and for a split second she was lost.

"He.... What?" She asked.

"Nothing" I said instantly.

"Come on tell me" she insisted.

"It wasn't a kiss here" I said pointing towards my lips.
"It was a kiss here" I said pointing towards my right cheek.
"It was just a friendly kiss" I sighed.

"But-" she was cut off as my phone started ringing.
The caller ID showed Warren's name.

I gestured Daisy to be quite and answered the call.

"Hello" my heart skipped a beat when I heard his voice.

"Yes?"

Why am I nervous?

"Where are you?"

Why? Do you want meet and talk to me

"In my office" I replied.

"Oh!"
" Can you pass me... um.. Daisy's phone number?"  He asked

"Why? I mean why do you need Daisy's number" I asked.

"Um.. I just need it" he said.

"Daisy's right here, should I give her my phone" I said instead.

It's better this way..

"Okay" he said.

I passed my phone to Daisy,
'He wants to talk to you' I mouthed.

'Me?' she mouthed back as I bobbed my head up and down.

She placed the phone on her ear while Warren was talking.
"Okay" she replied with a smile and then disconnected the call.

"What did he say?" I asked out of curiosity.

She stood up,
"I gotta go" she said instead and started walking.

"Where?" I asked incredulously.

Where is she going all of the sudden..
