Yeesh I'm already on chapter 10...welp Enjoy

Kai

Thursday night Kai didn't get any sleep. Mrs. Shina had invited a few people over and had gotten drunk with them, resulting in laughing and screaming all night. With no sleep and being forced to go to school he wasn't in a very good mood.

Kai didn't even bother to eat breakfast or pack lunch out of his desperation to get out of that god-forsaken house. Kai walked into school and headed straight to his locker, giving death glares to whoever met his gaze.

Kai almost thought he'd survive the day without any more issues, when Morro came up and shoved him against the wall.

"Out of my way loser." Morro shouted at Kai as he walked away.

Kai rolled his eyes and took a deep breath to keep his cool. He couldn't risk getting into a fight, at least right now he couldn't.

Morro laughed as he marched toward math class, Kai was assuming. Kai turned and walked the other direction towards history class. He walked in and Misako greeted him with a smile. Kai nodded but showed no other emotion. Misako sighed and started greeting the other students. Kai groaned and sat down, dropping his backpack on the floor next to him and pulling out his textbook.

Soon Misako began the lesson and Kai did his best to pay attention. His history test would be coming up in two weeks and he didn't want to get a bad grade...that'd mean no breakfast for a month.

Kai sighed and looked up to face Misako, but she was gone.

Then he heard a voice in his head. "Be prepared Kai Smith, we have big plans for you..." The voice whispered.

Kai's head started throbbing and he realized it was the same pain he had been having the last two months. Except this time, it was much worse. Then the throbbing stopped, and Kai's eyes refocused themselves. Misako was looking at him with a concerned expression.

"Kai, are you feeling, ok?" Misako asked.

Kai nodded and looked down, "Just a headache, Mrs. Garmadon." Kai replied with a wave of his hand to gesture for her to continue. Misako nodded and continued.

That voice bothered Kai, not because of what it said but because it was so familiar...too familiar. Why wouldn't it click? He couldn't recognize it, but he knew he had heard it before.

Class ended about thirty minutes later so Kai then headed to second period which was English. He hated English, he hated having to write. Drawing was so much easier. English went smoothly, considering Kai just drew the whole time. He had been working on a piece for a while now. It was a sketch of a dragon or at least what he thought one would look like. So far, he had spent a total of six hours on it, but he still wasn't near being done. He still had to do the tail, feet, shading, and background of the picture. Plus, after he was done with that, he wanted to color it for the realistic effect.

Soon third period arrived, and Kai then headed to PE. Kai head toward the guys changing room and walked in with his gym clothes. Lloyd and a few other guys were talking in the center of the room. Kai walked to the corner in order to keep his distance. He quickly got changed and began to leave when Lloyd called his name.

"Kai, wait up!" Lloyd cried as he ran towards Kai.

Kai rolled his eyes and kept walking. The last thing he wanted to do was sit and chat with goodie-two-shoes. Lloyd grabbed Kai's arm which cause him to stop.

"Dude, let go." Kai growled as he whipped around to face Lloyd, he glared at the boy and waited for him to let go.

Lloyd gulped and quickly let go of his arm. "I need to talk to you." Lloyd stated.

"Yeah, what else is new?" Kai asked as he trudged towards the gym. Lloyd followed close behind.

"Well, me and my friends wanted to know if you wanted to hang out with us at lunch?" Lloyd offered as he tried to keep the conversation relaxed.

"Lloyd, why on earth would I want to hang out with you? All you do is talk, which as you can tell, is not my strong point." Kai replied.

Lloyd snorted, "That's plenty obvious." Lloyd muttered.

"Did you say something?" Kai asked as he turned around to face the boy.

Lloyd quickly avoided eye contact, "W-what?! No of course not!" He replied frantically.

Kai grunted, "Good." Then Kai turned around again and continued walking. Soon they were at the gym, and they lined up for inspection and assortment of teams.

"Can you just hang out with us? You don't have to talk. You could just sit there and glare at us the whole time." Lloyd said once they went to their side of the gym. Kai and Lloyd each grabbed a dodge ball and stood shoulder to shoulder. Their team lining up the same way.

"No." Kai replied without looking over.

Kai ducked as a ball soared past his ear. He stood up and chucked his ball, hitting a boy square in the ribs. The boy bent over and gasped. Kai quickly grabbed a ball from the ground and threw the next one, and the one after that. Each ball hitting their target perfectly.

Lloyd looked at Kai and his jaw dropped, "How did you do that?" He asked.

Kai shrugged, "You tell me. You haven't missed one yet either." Kai replied, making eye contact with Lloyd, then quickly breaking it.

Lloyd shifted uncomfortably, "Yeah, but I barely hit mine. You've hit all of your targets in either the shoulder, stomach, or ribs." Lloyd answered with a side glance at Kai.

Kai threw another ball which sent a boy sprawling on the ground in pain. Kai scowled. "Damn kid, he jumped. It was supposed to hit his ribs." Kai muttered.

Lloyd managed a small laugh, "Well you did hit him." Lloyd said, "I mean that's enough right?" Lloyd added with a questioning look at Kai.

Kai sighed, "Just because I want to hit people doesn't mean I want to hurt them. I'm not heartless." Kai stated blankly.

Lloyd glanced over and stared. "That's not what I... you know what never mind." Lloyd said. "So will you sit with us?" Lloyd asked.

Kai shook his head, "Man, when will he leave me alone?" Kai thought to himself.

"Dude, common! It's for thirty minutes! You have the rest of your day at your house after school!" Lloyd exclaimed.

Kai stopped what he was doing and stared at the floor, "That's the problem." Kai whispered, too quietly for Lloyd to hear. Kai winced as a ball hit him in the stomach. He quickly scolded himself for getting distracted.

"Pleaseeeeee." Lloyd begged.

"Ugh, fine. One time." Kai answered, "As long as you promise to leave me alone after this." Kai added.

Lloyd rolled his eyes but agreed.

After PE the boys quickly went outside for lunch. Lloyd leading the way, with Kai trailing behind with an annoyed expression.

"Bruh, lighten up. I know you don't want to be here, but can you at least try to be happier about it?" Lloyd asked.

Kai stared at him.

"Ok-ok...yeesh." Lloyd muttered.

They head over to a table in the corner.

"Make yourself comfortable, the others will be here soon." Lloyd said. "I'm going to go ask Jay and Cole to join us." Lloyd added as he dropped his lunch onto the table and marched away.

Kai plopped into the corner of the bench and pulled out his sketch book. "Why would he want me to hang out with them?" Kai asked himself. "Like, why me? I'm just a brat." He added with a frown. Kai sighed and began sketching the outline to the tail of his dragon.
