Yay, I made it to chapter 20! and I'm not even half-way done. -_- welp, enjoy!

Jay

Jay was playing Prime empire when he received the message on his mic. Jay thought about it for a minute, he knew he was in no condition to fight, but he wanted to do something.

Jay walked over and picked up his mic, "Hey Ice cream...I'm not really in the best condition right now. Can I pull out?" Jay asked. He waited a moment before someone responded.

"You're good lightening. You and Energy won't be helpful on this mission anyways. I wish you a well recovery." Ice replied.

Jay smiled, "Thanks. Good luck out there." Jay stated. He shut off his mic and sighed, he wished he could be of help, but Ice was right. He would only get in the way with his element.

Jay decided to text Cole in hopes of playing Prime empire with him. Jay continued his game and waited for Cole to respond. Time raced by and soon found himself running out of things to do. He checked his phone, but Cole still hadn't replied. Jay then turned on the news and saw four ninjas working. Ice, Fire, and Water were fighting the fires while Earth was creating ditches to contain the fire in its present area. They were amazing as usual, while Jay just sat behind the scenes. It was necessary Jay knew that, but it still made him feel useless. Jay stood up and walked out of his room.

"Oh! Jay, what are you doing here? I thought for sure you would've run off on another mission." Edna exclaimed as Jay walked into the kitchen.

Jay shrugged, "I probably would've if it weren't for my condition, and lightening isn't the best element for putting out fires." Jay answered with a small smile.

Edna looked at him and immediately saw through his smile. Jay never understood how moms did it. It's like they could read their Childrens' minds and see through their walls.

"I'm sure you'll be useful on the next mission sweetie. Even the strongest men need breaks, and I doubt that one ninja could be useful for every mission." Edna stated as she walked over and kissed Jay's forehead.

Jay smiled and nodded, "You're right mom. By the way where's dad?" Jay asked as he looked around.

"He's outside working." Edna replied as she shoed him out of the kitchen.

"Alright alright, I'm going!" Jay exclaimed with a laugh.

Jay walked outside and coughed into his arm. He was feeling better that was no doubt, but nevertheless he was still sick.

"Hey dad, you need any help out here?" Jay asked as he walked over to a working Ed.

Ed looked up from his work and smiled at Jay, "Hey son! Um...actually I wouldn't mind some help." He answered.

Jay nodded and began working. A few hours passed and the two men were still tweaking with a machine. Soon Ed called it quits as the sun slowly sank beneath their line of vision and behind the piles of trash.

Jay nodded at Ed, "I'm going to stay out here for a bit and see what I can find for my 'collection'." Jay stated with a wink at his dad. Ed smiled at him and walked inside.

Jay climbed the piles of garbage and started digging. Last time he had found the microphone and that had been useful the next morning. Sunlight poured onto Jay as the sun said its final goodbyes. Jay stood up and had to regain his balance as some trash caved in a little. He looked to the sunset and put his hand out in front of him to shade his eyes. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Jay smiled, it looked almost perfect. He glanced to his right where the smoke in the sky had slowly disappeared, that meant the ninja had finished dousing the fire. Jay sighed and bent down to begin digging again.

Jay ended up finding some decent items: A purse with some dollars in it, an old video game console that Jay was sure he could fix, a broken fan, and a beat-up motorcycle which of course Jay couldn't get out of the junkpile. Jay always wondered why people through all of this away, like sure the items had their issues, but they weren't unrepairable. Jay himself could rebuild and repair half of the junk and it would work as if it was new. Jay grabbed his money, new console, and fan and dragged them inside where he took them to his room.

Jay then walked into the kitchen to eat dinner. Edna had made broccoli and cheddar soup today which made Jya's stomach rumble. He rushed over to a seat and started gobbling up his soup. Ed and Edna smiled at him and then proceeded to eat their own food. They all ate in silence, though Jay let out a few burps while he ate which cause little laughs here and there.

After he ate Jay went back to his room and started working to fix his new belongings. Jay grabbed one of his tools and started pulling out gunk from the dents and inputs of the console. It was filthy, but Jay didn't mind. He was used to filthy.

Minutes turned into hours when finally, Jay finished the console. Well...he finished cleaning it. It would take about a month or two to repair that old thing. Jay laughed as he pushed the console underneath his bed. Jay thought about going to bed, but he wasn't tired. He decided to take a walk outside, that should clear his head. He started walking along the piles of junk and strolled around underneath the stars.

Jay was about to go inside when he felt a tingle run up his arm. He swung around but saw nothing.

"W-who's there?" Jay asked aloud. His words echoed and Jay jumped at the sound of his voice. Something was definitely wrong...

Jay glanced back once more, but there was still nothing. Then he saw a shadow.

"Whoever you are...you better think before you mess with me." Jay shouted.

The shadow started moving, but there was no one there. Jay decided to follow it. The shadow left the junkyard and started moving along the road. Soon Jay found himself in the city still following the shadow as it ran. Suddenly the shadow turned into an alleyway and Jay heard a scream. Jay ran over to see a young girl screaming and clawing at the ground.

"Hold on!" Jay yelled as he dived to grab the girl's hands. It was as if she was being sucked into a portal, but there was no portal. She was vanishing into thin air. Jay noticed in the background, shadows pulling...then it hit him. The shadows were the portal.

"Help me!" The girl cried. Tears ran down her face as she was sucked in farther.

Jay stared in the girl's eyes and saw pure fear. Whatever was happening was inhuman. Then her hands started slipping from Jay's.

"No..." Jay moaned as his hands now only held her fingers. He held on to her with all the strengh he had, but it wasn't enough.

The girl let out an ear-splitting scream as her hands slipped and she was pulled into the shadows. She vanished and Jay stared in horror. He sat back as he stared into the darkness.

Jay stood up shakily, determined to tell the others about it. Jay turned around and stopped short.

"Boo." The voice said.

Jay jumped back and stared at the form. He didn't even know what it was. It was human, but it wasn't. "Who are you?" Jay asked as he glared at the being.

The form stepped closer until it was right in front of Jay. It leaned towards his ear and whispered, "I am your worst nightmare, and I am here to warn you." It stepped back. "Three will leave you every night, and you won't be able to stop it. It will continue to happen unless you and the other ninja turn yourselves in to us." It stated.

Jay froze.

"Yes...I know who you are, lightening ninja. Go and tell the others. If you want to save the citizens...you know where to find me." The form added with a cruel smile, then it faded away into the shadows. Jay stood there in shock for a moment then he broke into a run. He had to tell the others...he had to tell them now.

Just then two more screams cut through the air.
