Kai
The last thing Kai had seen before he blacked out was someone running into the building, he was lying in. Yeah, way to go! You almost got yourself killed and now someone else is following your example. Kai would sarcastically clap himself on the back, but well.... he couldn't move. He couldn't open his eyes. He couldn't speak. It's like his brain had died, but at the same time it hadn't.
The first few hours of his unconscious state had been unbearable. There was searing pain running around his midsection. It ached and burned and stung. Even if he couldn't cry out physically, inside he was screaming. After the searing pain came the darkness. All around was black and it was cold and lonely. Every once in a while, he'd hear voices and he'd reach out to try and latch onto them. It was no use though...
After all of that came a deep sense of hopelessness. He looked back on his life and regretted almost everything. He looked back and wished some moments in his life could've lasted longer. Like when he and Cole were in his house and had talked. Like when he had been reunited with his sister, Nya. Like when everything had been ok as a kid when he was with his parents. Those were the moments he missed. The memories hurt, but Kai loved them all the same.
Even the bad memories... when he had been in the orphanage with Nya, a gang of boys had been trying to rape her. Even when Kai paid the price for protecting her by getting raped himself, he was glad he was able to stand up for her. He was glad she never had to go through that. Maybe this is where his life ended...surprisingly Kai found he wasn't afraid of that reality.
When Kai finally believed he was about to die, he felt something. It was strange, but it was soft and warm. It was comforting and gentle. That's what stopped him from letting go, that one little feeling that made his chest all fuzzy. Kai didn't know what it was, but it definitely gave him a nice feeling.
A bright light eased through his consciousness, and he squinted, he soon recognized daylight. Then he felt his hand move and he brought his hand over to shield his eyes from the light. Then he realized he was actually awake. He blinked a few times to adjust his eyes and looked around in confusion. He was...in Cole's room?!
Kai would've immediately jumped out of the bed, but even the little movement of his stomach muscles made him hiss in pain. Kai pulled down the covers and pulled his shirt up to see a white bandage. It wasn't blood-stained which meant it had been changed recently. He then realized that the shirt that he was wearing wasn't his, in fact it was too big to be his.
After a moment of freaking out, Kai relaxed into the warm covers and pulled them up to his chin. It was so cozy and comfortable. He definitely wasn't used to it, but he had to admit it was nice. Then the thought hit him. He wasn't in his gi...and he had been stabbed in his gi, which meant that whoever found him now knew his identity. He wasn't sure if Cole knew, but he hoped his identity hadn't fallen into the wrong hands.
Kai heard the door squeak open, and Kai shut his eyes. Kai heard two sets of footsteps.
"See? No stranger." Kai heard Cole say. Then he heard someone else speak who was no doubt Lou, Cole's dad.
"I'm not letting someone stay in our house. I'm sorry Cole, but I'll call the doctor and pay for him to stay there." Lou stated.
"Dad, no." Cole stated.
Lou paused whatever he was doing, and Kai felt the tension accelerate.
"No?" Lou asked.
He heard Cole gulp. "No. He stays here, I don't care what you say." Cole declared.
