Sorry to all of you Nya and Zane fans! I will be getting to them, but I want to do Kai again for...certain reasons. This chapter might be shorter than the others, but I will continue to do my regular length afterwards. This is kind of a little sneak into the story line to help set up the plot. Anyways, sorry again for the delay of characters. I will get to them soon I promise. Just as a lil clarification: Kai in this universe is a loner and is kinda mean though he isn't a bully. However, that is just a cover up for his soft side. Kai's a big softie here. He only shows his soft side to people he deeply cares about or to those that appeal to him through emotion.

Kai

As soon as the fighting ended the police came in to take control of the situation. Kai managed a smile as all of his teammates congratulated one another with high fives and hugs. It was a normal mission with normal achievements, but the hugs and high fives were a more personal message. A message of friendship and support. Kai of course didn't feel comfortable hugging people, so he stuck with high fiving Energy, the only one in the group who didn't treat him differently from the others. Kai soon realized that Earth was missing.

"Hey, do you guys know where Earth is?" Kai asked. Earth was strong and smart and though they weren't friends Kai still felt a sense of respect for the guy.

"He was on watch." Ice said. Grabbing his mic, Ice put it to his mouth. "Earth, the coast is clear you're good to come out now." Ice spoke into the piece. No reply came. Kai sighed.

"Maybe I should go look for him?" Kai suggested, trying to be helpful for once.

Lightening shrugged, "I mean, if you want to. Go for it." Lightening replied. "Anyways, I have to go. See you guys around!" Lightening called as he ran off.

Water laughed. "Classic Lightening, always being the comedian." Water commented. Though she made it sound like she was annoyed Kai could tell she enjoyed it. Ice looked at Kai and nodded for him to go look for Cole.

"If you don't find him by sundown you should return to your home. He may just have gone home." Ice said blankly.

Kai nodded, "I know, but just in case..." Kai quickly sheathed his swords and climbed up the nearest wall. He hopped over and landed gracefully on the ground. Kai ran over to a building and hopped onto a ledge, climbing the wall almost spider like. He climbed to the roof and sat down to catch his breath. Then he felt it again. He closed his eyes and breathed in. "Not now." Kai muttered. He stood up and shook his head to regain his focus. The stabbing pains continued.

After a few hours Kai was about to give up when he saw a figure on a roof in the distance. Kai quietly jumped to the roof and hid behind the chimney to get a better look. Kai recognized the figure as Cole from his school. Kai was about to leave when a voice startled him.

"Whatcha doing out at this time Red?" Cole asked, he was still staring out over the distance.

"That is none of your business." Kai answered blankly. He was still confused on how Cole had gotten onto the roof.

"There's a fire escape." Cole said.

Kai shook his head and stared at Cole. "What?" He asked, still confused. Cole laughed and turned to him.

"I'm assuming you wondered how I got up here." Cole added. Kai just stared.

"Can you read minds?" Kai asked. Cole smiled.

"No. I wish I could." Cole answered.

Kai shrugged and sat down next to Cole. "What are you doing out here?" Kai asked.

Cole raised an eyebrow at him. "Reasons." Cole answered, he turned back to face the view.

"Earth." Kai said suddenly.

Cole stiffened, "What?" He asked quietly.

"You asked why I was out here; I've been looking for Earth. He took off a while ago without answering his mic." Kai added.

Cole relaxed a little but looked curious. "Why would you be looking for him? Wouldn't he be at home at this time?" Cole asked.

Kai shrugged. "I don't know. He seemed off during the mission like something was bothering him."

Cole laughed, "I'm sorry but you don't seem like the caring type." Cole stated.

"Maybe not, but I'm not oblivious. Earth and I may not be friends but that doesn't make us any less of a team. If someone goes off suddenly, I will worry." Kai answered sadly.

Cole looked at him without emotion as if confused. "I know this is a weird question, but do you have daddy issues?" Cole asked suddenly.

Kai looked at him with sadness in his eyes. "No. I don't have parents." Kai answered blissfully. Kai looked away so that Cole wouldn't see his eyes start to water.

He felt a hand on his shoulder, "Sorry, I didn't know." Cole said as he looked away. Kai laughed,

"Nah it's fine. Nobody knows." Kai replied as he faked an upbeat attitude.

"D-do you have any family?" Cole asked after a minute.

Kai hesitated and glanced back at Cole. He saw the concern in his eyes. Kai laughed, "Wow you look like you're genuinely concerned for me. I don't get expressions like that very often." Kai said as he stood up. Cole looked up at him.

"I have to go now." Kai said as he walked away, then he paused. "And no, I don't have any family." Kai added as he ran off. He quickly headed back to Mrs. Shina's house. He slipped open the window and snuck in. After changing he got in bed and did his best to fall asleep. "Maybe Cole isn't as bad as I thought." Kai muttered under his breath. Kai closed his eyes and soon fell asleep.

Finally, I'm getting to the good part! I've actually been writing a ton the last two days which is why I already have five chapters out in the first three days. Anygays, I probably will post later today at some time, but yeah see ya soon!
