Chapter 27

Sorry, this is so late (TwT). I should be free by the end of next week, so I'll be able to post regularly around that time. However, for now I'm gonna be posting...at random. Whenever I get my chapters done that is. We got some Jaya in this chapter so in case you don't ship it, feel free to not read it. 

Jay

Jay walked into the clearing where the ninja were supposed to meet, finding Energy and Earth waiting.

"Hello! Have the others not arrived?" Jay asked.

Earth shook his head, "Nope." He stated.

"Make yourself comfortable lightening." Lloyd added.

"You know you can just call me Jay right? It's not like anyone's gonna hear." Jay muttered.

Earth smiled, "Well Jay, why don't we talk?" Earth asked with a smirk.

"About?" Jay began.

Earth fell silent then put up a hand with his index finger pointing upward. "I have no idea." He answered.

Ice ran into the clearing and greeted each of them. "I see we're missing two people." Ice observed.

"Yep." Energy stated.

The four stood there in silence until they heard some branches crack and they all turned to face Water who was running towards them. "Heyyyyyy. Sorry I'm late. I had some company over." Water stated as she bent over to catch her breath.

Jay walked over and put a hand on her shoulder, "Go ahead and take a seat." Jay told her. 

Water nodded and plopped onto the ground as she recovered.

About five minutes later Fire arrived. He was holding a knife, which was confusing. 

"Food." Fire stated as if it was an obvious answer. 

Jay noticed Earth studying the knife, almost in recognition. Jay had seen Fire with it many times before so he pushed the questions in his mind aside. 

"Why would you need food? Don't you have some at home?" Water asked.

Fire sighed and flung the knife into the bushes where they heard a short-lived cry. Fire walked over and grabbed a dead bunny out. "No, I don't." Fire answered. He turned and walked over to a rock and set the bunny on it. Fire cleaned he knife with his gi and out of the corner of his eye Jay saw Earth's eyes widen. Jay didn't understand but he intended to ask Earth about it later.

"Alright now that we're all here. We're going to split into teams of two. One team covers East and North, another covers South and West, and the final team will cover the heart of Ninjago city. Got it? Good." Ice stated as the others nodded. "Me and Energy will cover the South and West. I was originally going to put Fire and Lightning together and then Earth and Water, but I changed it up considering Fire and Lightening love to get into trouble. Water, you and Jay will take the North and East. Earth, you and Fire will take the center. If you hear screams try to find out where it comes from and follow the shadows. They can't take you, so don't fear them." Ice added.

The ninja split into their designated groups and stood there as if waiting for a signal.

Energy stood forward, "When you're done with your patrol feel free to head home. I know you guys want to help the people. You can try, but I don't think Alptraum was lying when he said we can't save them. Earth, work on your powers. Locate that dungeon. Fire, Lightening, please don't do anything stupid." Lloyd ordered. 

Jay nodded with the others and soon they all split and went to their areas. Jay and Water ran in silence, both sensing the awkwardness rising between them.
