In this universe Cole's mom had gone missing when he was young, and there was no trace to where she had gone. After a while they gave up looking and faced the fact that she had died.
Cole
Cole started home with a sigh. Being only five minutes away, he could easily walk there and back. Soon he arrived at the large house that stood before him. He walked up the porch and opened the door as quietly as possible. He didn't want to disturb his dad when he was working. Those situations never ended well. His dad always worked twenty-four seven. It felt as if Cole was living by himself. Which he kinda was.
Unfortunately, this time Cole's dad, Lou, was in the kitchen grabbing something to eat. Cole's eyes widened and he tried to sneak his way upstairs before Lou saw him.
"Cole, get back down here this instant. I need to talk to you."
"Uh oh." Cole thought, this wasn't going to end well. Cole walked back downstairs and stood face to face with his dad.
"Yes?" Cole asked with the extra dose of effort.
Lou sighed, "Cole, we need to talk about your singing career. You're turning down every job offer. You are the future of this household, and you need to be in a good business." Lou began. Cole stiffened as he listened to his dad talk about how he needed a "Good job" and a "Stable income". Cole fought back the urge to snap back at him.
Finally, Cole couldn't take it anymore. "Dad! Can you please stop talking to me about my career! Don't act like you know what I need, you don't!" Cole yelled. Lou stared back in anger. He was about to say something, but Cole cut him off. "And don't bring up the subject of, 'How are you gonna take care of your wife and kids?' I'm not interested in women." Cole added with mock gravity. Lou looked ready to explode in a fury.
"Cole Brookstone, you are not gay! Gay isn't real, neither is anything else from that lgbtq+ crap! You are going to be a singer; you're going to marry a WOMAN. Stop it with that bucket load of nonsense." Lou yelled. Cole looked at his dad in shock and in fear. He couldn't believe his dad was saying this to him.
"Fine, have it your way." Cole replied. Tears came into his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away as he turned and marched up the stairs to his room. Once he got there, he slammed the door shut and locked it. He slugged over to his bed and sat down on it, feeling the gravity of his dad's anger.
It was true that he was gay, he had only told his dad and Jay; and so far, only Jay had supported him. At first, he hadn't even realized he was gay, he just was never sexually attracted to women. But then in middle school he had developed a crush on a guy. That was when he figured out, he was gay. He had told Jay in his sophomore year of Highschool and had told his dad during his junior year.
Cole laid his head back and sighed. "Why can't he just accept me. And on top of that he forbids me to reveal my 'Gay identity' to the public." Cole whispered. It was a bunch of bullshit that's what it was. Cole stood up and glared out his large window, overlooking Central Avenue. "How am I supposed to control the fact that I'm attracted to guys not girls?" Cole asked angrily. He gritted his teeth in frustration and sat back down. He grabbed the tv remote and turned on the news. There was nothing urgent going on, so Cole turned it off and laid back. His back leaning against the pillows.
His room was huge that wasn't any mystery. He had a large tv hanging on the wall directly in front of his bed, he had his own weights and treadmill in the corner of the room. Then he had a porch with a hot tub and a pool. The best way of saying it. He was rich, but the sad truth was that Cole hated it. He hated having to put up with "fans", he hated having to hide his identity, he hated his career, he hated everything. It wasn't that he didn't like singing; he did, but he wanted to do that for fun and without having to have so much responsibility.
Cole pulled out his phone and looked through old photos. There were pictures of him with his mom and dad, they were all so happy back then. Cole shook his head as water built up in his eyes.
"Why did you have to leave?" Cole asked with a shaky breath. Cole lied back and closed his eyes. He pushed back the events of the day and relaxed, slowly drifting to sleep...
* * * * *
Cole awoke to screaming coming from outside. Cole jumped out of bed and looked out the window where gang members were raiding shops and stores. Cole's face morphed into determination as he rushed over to his backpack, yanking out his gi and retrieving his weapons. After he had changed, Cole opened the window and jumped out, landing on the next roof and rolling to reduce impact. He ran along the houses until he arrived in a small alley near the fighting. Cole pulled out his mic and let the others know what was happening.
Cole anxiously waited for his teammates as he listened to the citizens' screams and cries for help. The first person to arrive was Water.
"Earth, what happened? Did you see what was happening out there?!" Water exclaimed with a worried glance out the alley.
Cole sighed. "I don't know, I was napping when I woke to the commotion." Cole replied crossly. Water sent a worried glance his direction.
"Are you ok?" Water asked.
"I'm fine, let's just wait for the others." Cole snapped back. Water fell silent.
One by one the others arrived in minutes, judging from their eyes they all were concerned. Fire was last to arrive, which wasn't abnormal. Once they discussed the strategy, they spread out in groups of two. Cole cut to the right with Ice to wrap around and attack the gang from behind, while Fire and Energy wrapped around the other side. Water and Lightening were to attack them head on in order to cause a distraction, so they could gain the upper hand. This type of situation occurred quite often, so it wasn't a huge deal that the gang was stirring up trouble. What was strange was the fact that they attacked in broad daylight and that they were in an open and public area.
Cole and Ice crept around a building and peered around the corner where Water was blasting the shooters with water to stun them. Lightening was defending her back side as he shot electricity at as many people as possible, occasionally hitting them with his nun chucks when they came too close.
Ice turned to his mic and spoke through, but because of all the noise Cole didn't hear. Cole looked at Fire who nodded at Ice and ran into the fight. Fire, as usual, put much effort into showing off as helicopters soared above to stream it all. As Fire came close to two guys who had just been splashed with water, he flipped his swords in his hands and brought the handles down on their heads, knocking them unconscious. Fire then rushed over to Water and joined them in the center while blasting gang members with balls of fire.
Cole turned to Ice, but to his surprise Ice was gone. Cole whipped around to look for him when he saw him and Energy creeping around a building. Cole turned on his mic and quickly asked Ice what he was supposed to do.
"You are going to keep watch, Earth, just in case something goes wrong. Stay where you are, we'll call if we need your assistance." Ice replied.
Cole pouted and slumped onto his butt. He peeked over at the fighting and saw Energy and Ice use their elements to help finish the battle. Cole rolled his eyes as he saw each of the ninja give each other high fives. He hated being left out. It was true that he was needed on certain missions, but he always felt bad when he couldn't help the others. Cole sighed and got up. Running over to the nearest building, Cole climbed it and raced over the rooftops making sure he wasn't seen by the others.
I'm so sorry to all of you Lgbtq+ people! I love ya'll so much and I'm sorry about this chapter. I wanted to put some angst for Cole and that's what came to mind. I love each and every one of you and I meant no hate whatsoever on the lgbtq+ community. How could I? I myself am a part of it! Anygays I'm sorry again. Love you guys! Have a good morning/day/night! <3
