Chapter 44

Kai

Flashback

The moment that Kliptrone, who was controlling me, cut Cole I was extremely pissed. Nobody and I mean NOBODY touches my man. Then I apparently cut myself...for some reason I didn't feel it, but I bet once I was in control of my body I would. 

Alptraum gave the order to kill Cole and just before Kliptrone removed Cole's head from his body...I snapped. 

It was all so strange, like an overwhelming light exploded over everything. At first, I was blind and felt extreme heat. Then I opened my eyes and saw everything again. I felt a stinging pain in my arms and felt a sword in my hand. I moved my arm and put my sword back in its sheath on my back where it joined its twin. I was in control. 

"What are you doing? I said kill him!" Alptraum yelled at me.

I looked over at Alptraum and I realized that he had no idea that I was back in control. That gave me an idea. I turned over to Alptraum and frowned. 

"My Lord, I don't think I should do it." I stated plainly. I glanced over at Cole whose eyes eased open as he looked at me in confusion. I winked and a huge smile appeared on Cole's face, but he quickly caught onto the act and stopped smiling.

Alptraum glared at me. "Why not?" He asked curiously. He was searching my face for answers.

I quickly thought of an excuse. "I'm not exactly used to a human body, with that in mind my arms aren't working very well..." I looked down at my arms and saw that the blood was still running down them. Technically it wasn't a lie, they in fact were beginning to numb in all honesty and I couldn't move them very well. 

Alptraum rolled his eyes. "You're weak Kliptrone, kill them or I'll kill you myself."  Alptraum threatened.

I frowned internally; this wasn't going very well. I decided on a plan B. I've never been the best strategist, but hopefully I don't kill myself or even worse everyone else. 

I stood up straight and drew my swords. Cole gave me a look of curiosity with his eyes. He wanted to know what was going on. Alas, I had no idea what I was doing so I just gave him a little message saying, 'I got this'. Yeah, I should've gotten an award for stupidest person ever at that moment. I walked backwards and jumped off the balcony. Alptraum watching me with interest. I didn't know if he had caught on yet. I doubt anyone's escaped his control before. I'm just amazing so I can do that type of stuff.

I looked around at the shadows that were crowded around me and smiled. 

"Well well well. Look at this. I've got to admit you are one hard person to take control of Kai Smith. Your spirit serves you well." Alptraum stated.

I grinned as he finally caught on, "Yeah well I have you to thank for me getting my control back. You and Kliptrone that is. If you hadn't tried to cut Cole's head off I wouldn't have snipped the control cord on my body." I bowed mockingly, "So thank you, O great Alptraum." I added with sarcasm.

I glanced at my friends who looked at me with surprise and relief. Well, besides Cole that is. He already knew what was happening. I smirked up at them and then looked back at Alptraum who was watching my every move. I scowled and turned to look at the shadows around me who were waiting for an order to attack. Their weapons were drawn, and a look of hunger swept across their faces. 

End of Flashback

Kai stared at the enemies around him. Then he heard a sword being drawn from its sheath and he knew what was happening. "Oh shit I didn't think this through." Kai muttered under his breath.

"Um Kai? A little help up here?" Nya asked from on the balcony. 

Kai smiled sheepishly at the shadows around him. "Um yeah, I'll be there in a sec... I hope." Kai answered.

Kai looked around until he spotted the stairway to the balcony to his left. He didn't have much time. Kai jumped and flipped over some warriors and landed. The shadows then ran after him with their swords and spears swinging around. Kai raced up the steps and froze when a sword was pointed to his neck. 

A shadow smiled at him as he dropped his weapons and put his hands up.

"Nice job Kai. Now we're all as good as dead." Lloyd commented.

"Well at least I did something." Kai shot back.

Kai was forced into a kneeling position as shadows came and locked him in the same situation as his friends. He was right next to Nya. 

"Yeah, you got us captured and tried to kill us. Call that something." Lloyd added as he looked over at Kai. Then he realized what he said as Kai looked down sadly. 

"Look Kai I-" Lloyd was cut off...actually he was about to be as a shadow put a sword to Lloyd's neck.

The shadow raised the sword above his head and shot the sword down towards Lloyd's skull. A figure ran over and blocked the hit with another sword.

"Again?" Alptraum asked as he looked at the figure standing before them with annoyance.

"Pixal?" Zane asked.

Pixal looked over and smiled at Zane as she kicked the shadow that stood before her.

Kai stared. "How on earth did you do that? Aren't they like untouchable?" Kai asked suddenly.

Pixal nodded. "Yes, but these shadow warriors can only be untouchable if they will themselves to be. There's something called the element of surprise." Pixal replied.

"That's awesome!" Jay exclaimed.

Other shadows rushed forward to attack them at Alptraum's orders, but a bunch more people came out to fight them. Pixal turned around and cut the ninja loose. 

"How did you guys get out?" Zane asked.

"You'd be surprised what you can do with a hairclip." Pixal answered with a mischievous smirk.

Zane smiled at her and gave her a peck on the cheek which resulted in her blushing. 

"Hurry up and get rid of that pain in the ass will ya?" Pixal asked Zane referring to Alptraum. Pixal gestured over and Kai turned to see Alptraum walking out of the cave.

Zane nodded

 "Ninja go!" The ninja yelled in unison as they jumped off the balcony to run after Alptraum.

...Ok lemme just say. All the times I said balcony for the ledge of rock overlooking the cave, I didn't know how else to say it so I just called it a balcony even though it isn't actually one. SO yeah, just wanted to clear that up. Bye!
