*hi! I just want to apologize for the terrible description. I was tried. And I just wanted to say that these characters are not mine, they are 100% Veronica Roth's! And one more thing! If you haven't read my story Head to Head then I encourage you to check that out. And I apologize for any grammar mistakes, I will try to clear that up and just to let you know there will be no profanity in this because I absolutely hate that. So anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you like it! Bye!*
Tris POV
I woke up to the alarm clock beeping. Ugh, school. I turn over and threw my hand in the direction of my dresser to my alarm clock but my hand just collided with the dresser. What? I lifted my head from my pillow and saw that my alarm clock wasn't on my dresser, it was all the way across the room.
Groaning I began to brace myself before I throw myself on the floor. It's the only way I can get up. I hit the ground with a small thud and crawl over to my alarm clock. I hit the off button with my hand and stood up.
I go downstairs for breakfast and when I enter the kitchen I realize no one is in there. Confused I look outside and see that the sun is just coming up. The clock reads 5:00. I angrily throw my head back and assume that my alarm clock must have been thrown around in the boxes, hitting random buttons that must have changed my wake up call time.
I go upstairs and get dressed anyway. It's not like I'm going to be able to go back to sleep anyway. I put on a blue crop top with a white tank top underneath and blue jeans shorts. Then, I go into the bathroom and put on a little concealer, black eyeliner, and a light coat of mascara. I'm not a big fan of makeup. I just don't see the need to put on gallons of makeup. When I'm finished I decide to leave my hair down.
I go downstairs and grab a bowl of cereal and by the time I finish, I hear alarm clocks going off followed by groans. Soon after Caleb comes downstairs and grabs cereal as well. I go grab my stuff and when I'm downstairs my mom and dad are there as well. "You ready?" Dad asks. "Yep let's go." Caleb and I get into the car because we're freshman and we obviously can't drive yet. We finally arrive at Chicago Academy.
Before we get out of the car Dad says, "Bye! Have a good day and don't forget to call me during lunch if you have a chance!" "Okay! Bye Dad, love you." Caleb and I said in unison.
We went to the office to get our schedule. We just moved here and I'm really nervous. On top of that, it's the 2nd week of school for everyone else so they all probably know where their classes are already. My thoughts were interrupted when the principal handed us our schedules. I took a look at mine. After homeroom I have Social Studies, then the first part of ELA, Music, the second part of ELA, Lunch, Science, Math, and then, Gym.
Caleb and I walked to homeroom. We don't have any of the same classes except lunch, and even though we have two different homerooms and we already found his, he wanted to see where mine was. He's a little protective. But I like that about him. When we find my homeroom he tells me goodbye and we separate into our classes.
When I walked in no one noticed expect the teacher because the class is talking. "Hello! I'm Mrs. Taylor and I'm assuming you're Beatrice?" "Uh, actually I go by Tris." The teacher nods and makes a small note of that on what I'm assuming is the role. "Okay," She says as she finished writing, "you can sit were ever you choose" I nod and tell her thank you.
I see an empty seat next to a girls that screams fashionista. I particularly don't care for shopping every weekend but hey, I'm not here to judge. She gives me a warm smile as I sit down. "Hi, I'm Christina!" I return the smile. "I'm Tris" I say as we shake hands. "So we're are you from? You know, cause your new and all." "Um, I'm from Georgia." I say. She smiles and asks, "So, why'd you move here to Illinois?" "My dad got a job transfer." I answer. "Oh, cool!" She says. I nod and then the bell rings.
I take a quick look at my schedule, Social Studies, room 223. Okay, well that would be helpful if I knew where room 223 was. I look at every room number as I pass by classrooms. I see a teacher in the hall so I work up the courage to ask for help. "Um, excuse me but do you know where room 223 is?" I ask. The teacher turns around and looks frustrated. "Down the hall, take a left down another hall, and it's the first door on the right." "Thank you." I say. She just snorts and says "You'd think you teenagers would be smart enough to know you way around here by now." I don't even try to explain that I'm new, it won't help, besides I can't change that she seems like she hates her job anyway. So, I just keep walking and use the directions she gave me.
When I finally get there the bell is about to ring so I address the teacher and then I take a seat next to a boy with blue eyes. The teacher begins to bore us to death about World War Two for like the 6th time. I mean, seriously, we've been over this a ton but no, they just think it's not fried into out brains went. I think it's way beyond fried though.
When class ends I look at my schedule to see what room my next class is in but, shocker, I have no idea where that is and I'm not going through ten minutes in the hall again so I turn around to the boy sitting next me and said, "Hey, do you happen to know where room 254 is?" I ask. He seems surprised that I talked to him most likely because I'm kinda shy. I mean I almost never raise my hand in class even when I know the answers. But he answers my question. "Yeah, it's actually my next class. Come on, we can walk together." I tell him thanks and after we get our stuff we go to ELA.
We enter the room and I sit at one of the empty desks. We got hear earlier then everyone else, most likely because we didn't talk in the hall. The guy sits down across from me and asks where I'm from. "Georgia." I answer. He nods his head. "Oh, I've been there once. I tried eating at the McDonalds there to see if maybe it was better but no, same grease trap." He says. We both laugh at his comment and more students show up. Then class begins.
I was actually excited about going to ELA. It's my favorite subject, well one of them, ELA is tied with Music. I enjoy listening to the teacher talk about sentence clauses, even though I already know how to do this. The bell soon rings and the boy asks me what my next class is. "Music." I reply. He smiles and nods, "Me too."
Music was really uneventful except when the teacher suddenly said Four. I was like um...are we talking about the time signature, 4 over 4. But then I realized she was talking to a student. In fact the boy that's been showing my around looked up when she said that. "Are you paying attention?" The teacher asks. "Yes ma'am." Says the boy. "Four, I highly doubt you were." Oh, so his name is a number? I decided not to ask, I bet he gets that a lot. "I really was Mrs. Ackerman. I promise." The teacher decided to let it go and we continued with Music.
After music and the second part of ELA, we got to go to lunch. It was about 11:20. Four asks if I would sit with him and his friends and I said yes. After I got my food and sat down, I excused myself so I could call my dad as he had asked. "Hey." I said when he answered. "Hey princess, how's your day so far? No trouble? He whispers the last part. Last year I got beat up a lot and it wasn't fun. "It's been good and no, no trouble yet." I respond. "Good." He says. "Thanks for calling, have a good rest of the day. He says. "You too," I respond. "Bye." "Bye sweetheart." And then we hung up.
I went back to lunch with Four and I noticed Christina sitting with him too. "Okay guys, so this is..... I just realized I don't know your name yet." He says while laughing. I smile and open my mouth to answer but before I get the chance Christina answers for me. "Tris." She says. Four nods. "Okay so this is Tris, and Tris this is Christina, " he says pointing to her, " and that's Zeke," he says pointing to a guy our age. "And that's Uriah, Zeke's brother," He says pointing to a boy also our age. I nod. Then, everyone starts eating and about 20 minutes later the bell rings signaling the end of lunch. After we put up our trays Four asks me what my next class is. "Science." I tell him. "Oh, okay. I don't have that next but you take a right down this hall and then it's the first class on the left. Wait, room 158 right?" He asks. I nod. "Okay then yeah. So, bye." He says. "Bye." I say and start walking toward science.
*so how do you like it so far? Be sure to leave me a comment and like it if you do! And I'm open to suggestions as always! Oh, and I also want to say that the title picture is not mine! How's it is exactly, I'm not sure but I found it on Pintrist! Sorry I spelt that wrong. Idk how to spell it and I'm to lazy to look it up. Well I'm not lazy, I'm just selectively motivated. Anyway bye! Let me know if you want shorter chapters bc I can do that. Bye!
