Tobias POV
After lunch we decide to go to the park to get away from all the drama going on.
Tris and I sit at a park bench, listening to the birds sing. She lays her head on my shoulder and I wrap my arm around her small body.
After a few minutes, I break the silence. "We have to go back to school tomorrow." I hear Tris groan. We have been on break since the week before Christmas and the week after. It's now Sunday. We had good intentions of attending our regular church today, but after last night, we had decided to skip due to both of us shaken up.
"How long until the next break?" she asks. "MLKJ Day," I say and she groans again.
We sit in each other's arms for a while again, until I hear Tris say in a small voice, "I don't think I can face Christina tomorrow." I pull away from our position and look her dead in the eye, "You're not gonna do it alone. You have the whole gang with you, Zeke, Uriah, Will, Shauna, Marlene, and not to mention myself," I say with full sincerity.
I watch her play with her hands, "Tris, we're not going to let anything happen to you." She lifts her head and looks at me. I can see the fear in her eyes. "H-how can you promise that? She can pull things none of us know about. She can spread things. She can leave things in my bags and lockers. Tobias, there isn't just physical things she's able to do," she says. "Tris, I know. I know. I'll admit it, we can't prevent her from doing everything, but we can be there. We can help you through it. Trust me, it's not just the girls who are good at that stuff," I say. "Promise?" she questions. "Promise," I answer.
"Can I ask you one more thing?" She says and I nod. "Is Will helping Christina?" I shake my head. "No, he broke up with her. That's why I said not just girls are good at that stuff. We had to put him back together. He was so mad and upset. It was actually funny at times. One minute he's bawling, the next he's punching Zeke," I say chuckling.
She nods and puts her head on my shoulder. "Thank you," she says.
"For what?"
"For being their for me. I really appreciate it," she says. I smile and say, "Forever and always."
