Tris POV

We leave the house and Tobias drives to the beach. Tobias turns on the radio and Stitches comes on.

We both jokingly sing along, laughing the whole time.

My phone goes off and I look down to see my dad texted me.

-honey b careful ok?

I smile. "What?" Tobias asks. "My dad, he's protective," I say. "It's better him to be over protective than under protective," Tobias states. "True."

-no worries Dad

We soon arrive at the beach and spot the gang in the sand, building a sand castle. Laughing, we get out our beach supplies and join them.

Tobias lays out our towels, and I sit next to him after thanking them.

"It's so hot!" Uriah complains. "It's summer," Tobias says. "Touché."

"Four, can you put sunscreen on my back?" I ask while taking off my top and shorts, exposing my new bathing suit.

"Yes, ma'am," he says.

As he takes out the lotion, I hear myself say, "Please be gentle." My wounds haven't gone, and I have relatively new ones. "Always," he says.

I feel his hands glide across my ugly back with the cold substance. After he is done, I put some on his, just as gentle.

"Let's get in the water!" Uriah yells. I stay back as everyone plunges toward the blue sea. Tobias stays back as well.

"Do you want to go in?" He asks. "I can't swim, remember," I respond. "That shouldn't be a reason you don't get in. You have me, do you really think I would let you drown?"

I stare sheepishly at my feet. "I also don't like fish." Tobias grabs my hands and pulls me up. "Nonsense, they won't hurt you and you won't drown. Now come on," he says, dragging me to the ocean full of frightening creatures.

"Not too far out, okay?" I say as my feet hit the shallow water. "Not too far out," he repeats.

As we play games, splash each other, and just talk, I feel something brush up against my leg. I squeal and jump on Tobias, my legs wrapped around his waist.

He only looks alarmed for a second before saying, "It was just a fish."

I don't get down immediately, I wait a minute before I slowly go back into the water.

As time progresses, we are way to far out for my liking, to the point Tobias is waist deep and I'm chest deep.

I'm about to ask if we can go back to shallower water, when a dark figure catches my eye. It swims along the sand at the bottom, and is quite large. I can't make out what it is.

"Tobias?" I call, terrified. His eyes follow where mine are and they widen a bit. The creature is at my feet.

I feel myself shaking. "Tris, stand still. Don't move."

"Tobias?" I call again, with evident fear flowing through my voice. "It's okay, just stand still," he coos.

He is only a foot away from me, and slowly he get closer.

I feel the creature glide across my foot.

A yell escapes my throat and I jump to Tobias again. It's an involuntary movement. He catches me, but stays still himself.

They don't come close to him, so he begins to move back to shore.

"Shh. Tris calm down. They were only stingrays," he calms me.

I am still shaking as he puts me back on our towel.

I don't say anything, just stay with Tobias. However, my fear is gone quickly when Zeke and Uriah have a water gun fight.

Time skip

Tobias lays next to me on the couch while we watch a movie. All the swimming has worn me out, and before I am aware of it, I am welcomed by a sleep.
