Tris POV
I woke up at 2:00am. My head was pounding and I could hardly sit up. I got really worried and tried to call for Dad. I opened my mouth and pain shot through it. Biting my lip, I rolled a little off the bed and then gripped the edge of it. My vision was dotted all over. I stood up and almost immediately fell, I was beyond light headed. Something's wrong. I leaned against the walls and made my way, very slowly, down the hallway.
Caleb is the closest, he's right across the hall from me, so I walked toward his room. I would just go get Dad, but I feel like I might pass off if I keep standing. I open Caleb's door, and surprisingly the light was on. I see Caleb in his bed, reading. Go figure. His head turns toward the door when he hears it open. "Beatrice?" I guess I looked as bad as I felt, because he got up and immediately felt my forehead. "You're burning up. I'll go get Dad." He leaves the room for a second and it looks like the room is swaying. I grip the door frame even harder.
Dad comes in and looks really worried when he sees me. "Let me get the thermometer. Caleb, stay with Beatrice." He gets the thermometer and when he comes back he puts it in my mouth. It beeps and he takes it out. "102. Come on, go lay down." He helps me back to my room and I lay down. I'm given medicine that makes me drowsy so fortunately I fall asleep quickly.
When I wake up it's 5:30. I feel awful but there is no way I'm skipping school. Once again, I hate makeup work. I get dressed, even though it's 5:30, in a flowy top that has chevron prints made up of different shades of blue. Then I put on a pair of blue jeans. I don't bother with makeup today, it's a struggle for me to just get dressed.
I go downstairs and get breakfast and after 30 minutes Dad comes downstairs. "What are you doing up, Princess? You aren't going to school if you still have a fever." He goes upstairs to get the thermometer and while he's doing that I go get ice and pop it in my mouth to bring the temperature down. He comes back downstairs and after he sticks it in my mouth and it beeps, it reads: 99.3
I get to go to school today and Dad drives us. As soon as I get there, I make my way over to my locker. As I'm putting my stuff up Four comes behind me. "Hey!" I just smile, it still hurts to talk. He walks up in front of my locker and looks at me. "Do you feel okay," he asks. I shake my head no. I write on the whiteboard, 'I woke up pretty sick this morning.' He reads it and looks at me with his blue eyes full of concern. I shrug. Four puts two fingers under my chin. "Your jaw's still really bruised." Then he places his fingers gently on the bump on my head from the lockers. I cringe back a little. "Sorry," he apologizes. I shrug again. "We should probably get to class," he says. I nod and he puts an arm around my shoulders as we walk.
When we get to class I take a seat next to Four. He was talking with me about how he was gonna get Peter back twice as hard. He also said that Peter only got 2 days of after school detention. I thought it might be a little more considering that the principal was so mad. Four and Caleb are both protective over me now and to be honest, I'm fine with it. I mean, I don't want them constantly breathing down my neck, but I'm completely terrified of Peter now and knowing that he's never gonna leave me alone, makes me feel grateful that they will be there when they can. I can take care of myself and normally I'm not one to ask for help, but Four makes me feel like it's okay to do so. He just has that affect on people.
Christina comes barging in. "TRIS! WE HAVE TO GO SHOPPING TODAY! THERE IS A TWO FOR ONE SALE ON DRESSES AT DRESS ME PRETTY! PLEASE! WE HAVE TO GO!"
Um, ow. My ears are ringing. "God Chris, why do you have to be so loud?" Four asks. "I JUST TOLD YOU! THERE'S A TWO FOR ONE SALE AT DRESS ME PRETTY!" She shouts. "I still don't get why-" I cut Four off by putting my hand over his mouth, knowing that she will just shout again. She looks at me expectedly. I shake my head. "But why not?" She whines while stopping her feet. Four answers for me, "Tris isn't feeling to good today." Christina looks as if her puppy died. She plops down on her desk with s frown on her face. "Maybe another time?" I ask, followed with immediate pain. I cringe back. "Shhh. Don't talk, Tris. It'll get worse," Four says. Christina's eyes widen with hurt in them. "Her jaw," Four says really fast. Christina nods. The bell rings and class starts.*A/N Sorry this is short but I feel like I make the story really boring when I keep stopping at the same place.
