Chapter 81

Tobias POV

Ding dong.

I get up to open the door, leaving a sleeping Tris on the couch.

"Hello," I say, opening the door to see Andrew, her dad. "Good evening, Four. May I come in?"

I move to the side and he enters my house. I love her dad, he is like the dad I never had. "I need to talk to you," he says. "U-uh okay," I say as nervousness kicks in. "Do you need Tris too?" I ask. "Not yet."

We go to my room, and to my embarrassment, I see Tris' stuff on my bed. Andrew chuckles as he sees my nervousness. "Don't worry. As long as you two were not doing anything irresponsible, I do not mind you two sleeping in the same bed." I love Andrew.

He sits on the edge of the bed and I also do so. "I need to ask you a favor," he says. "Sure, what is it?"

"I need you to look after Tris," he says.

Confusion meets me. "Of course I will, but why?"

He smiles a genuine smile. "For the longest time, I've wanted to serve Air Force. Now I can. I would like to take that chance."

My jaw drops. "How long? What war?"

His smile still present, he says," Afghanistan, for at least 3 years."

Tris will be devastated.

"Of course I will look after her."

He sighs and runs his hand through his hair. "About the beatings she gets. You do not need to become involved in them, but if you can, please help her clean up. She needs it. Also, I know about her previous eating disorders, please watch that. It devastated me most, however, to see her cuts across her arm. If you can do non of the above, please tell me you will help her get through that. Please."

I nod my head, "I'll do everything I can, sir." He smiles, and to my surprise, pulls me into a hug.

"Now I need to tell Tris."
