Forever and Always

Chapter 24

Four's POV

We walked to science hand in hand. Tris is still really tired, you see it just by looking at her. Her eyes will close for a second but then she will force them back open. I pretty sure that she'll fall asleep again today.

We take a seat when we get to science. I'm glad that I told the office about Mr. Langley. Of course I felt absolutely terrible when I saw Tris upset but in the long run I was glad that I took action. Tris puts her head down and her eyes quickly close. Before I can do anything, Tris falls asleep. Looks like I was right.

Mr. Evan walks in and starts preparing for class. I'm glad that he's our teacher for now, he's not nearly as rude as Mr. Langley. The bell rings and Tris sleeps through it.

Class was it's usual boring and Mr. Evan kept looking at Tris suspiciously. She also slept through the bell that signals the end of class. I leaned down next to her and whispered, "Tris, wake up! We have to go to math!" I shook her shoulders hard and she wakes up. Her hand goes to her back and she groans. "I know. Come on, let's go to math." I grab her hand and help her up. We walk to math together. "Did you not get enough sleep last night?" I ask. Tris shakes her head. "Was it because you were sick?" She nods and leans on my shoulder. That must be why her face is more pale than usual.

We get to math and I help her sit down. Tris was able to stay awake during math but it looked like she was struggling to keep her eyes open. I get that when you're sick you get tired but after you fall asleep usually you aren't as tired. That's not the case with Tris. It's like even though she's sleeping, she doesn't seem to be resting. Weird, I know.

Class ends and we go to gym. "Uh, Tris? I don't think that it would be a good idea for you to participate in gym today. You're tired and weak today because you're sick. It's just not a good idea," I say. Tris looks at the ground and nods. When we get in I watch Tris go sit on the bleachers and I go get changed.

"We should have another party sometime," I hear Uriah say as I walk in the locker room. "Yeah, we need to get Tris used to the parties. I mean, she was nervous as if she's never been to one," Zeke says. I roll my eyes as I get changed. "Yeah! And what was that with her defending Will? I mean no one wants to hear him go on and on about math stuff," Uriah says. "HEY!" Will yells. I don't say anything as I finish changing. To be honest, I've been thinking about that a lot, and I think that maybe there's a side of her that she's hiding from me. But, no matter what that side is, it won't lessen my affection for her. I tie my sneakers and jog out to the court.

"Today we are playing basketball! Go run a lap then meet back in here! GO!" Coach tells. We all take off. I'm way ahead, as usual and I finish first. When I get back in the gym I see Tris working on something. Before I can go up to her everyone comes into the gym. Well, everyone except Lauren and Nita. "SPARKLE ONE AND SPARKLE TWO! GET IN HERE!" Coach yells. They pick you their pace to jogging and hold their nails out as if they're drying. They come into the gym 3 minutes later. "What...was...our...time?" Lauren asks. "I don't know, you took so long my stop watch stopped working," Coach says. I laugh loudly. "Alright! Two teams! Let's go!"

I see that Tris is still working on something after I change. I jog up to her. "Whatcha work'n on?" She jumps and hides her paper in her binder before I can see it. I give her a suspicious look. "What are you hiding?" I ask. Tris is blushing from embarrassment. "Come on," I say nudging her, "I just want to what you were working on." She sifts around uncomfortable. The bell unfortunately rings right then and we have to go to our lockers.

Tris quickly gets her stuff out of her locker and speed walks down the hallway to get to the carline so she can dodge questions. I grab my stuff and go to the bus line. I drown out everything and think about what Tris could possibly be hiding, until I hear "07-61! Get out!"

I go on the bus and the ride flys by. When I get home I make dinner for Marcus and take a shower. Then I do my devotion and go to bed.
