Dim lights flashed in the dark damp room. My heart was beating rapidly against my rib cage as I slowly descended the metal stairs. Piles of clothes, shoes, and accessories were littered across the room. All too familiar cries of pain echoed.

Billy

"B-Billy?" I whimpered out.

The lights flickered off. I stopped in my tracks and tightens my grip on the railing. The lights turned back on and a scream escaped from my lips. An appendage stabbed Billy through the chest and lifted him up into the air.

A light flickered above and the Mind Flayer stood above him. Tears started to stream down my face.

"Dawn."

My heart froze. I slowly looked back at Billy to see Danny instead. A sob heaved from my chest. I started to shake my head.

"No. Please no." My chin wobbled as the pain stabbed my heart. "Oh, God. Please no."

Blood started to drip down his chin.

"Dawn."

Danny's hand reached out toward me as he called my name.

"Hey, Dawn."

My hands started to shake as I started to have trouble breathing.

"Hey, Dawn!"

I gasped and shot up in my bed. My roommate, Sarah Mewis, stood above me with a frown.

"Hey, you okay?" Sarah questioned, looking like she wanted to be anywhere but our dorm.

"Yeah, um, just a stress nightmare I guess." I rubbed my eyes tiredly.

"Right..." Sarah slowly nodded. "Midterms can do that to the freshmen. You studied right?"

"I'm not an idiot, of course." I rolled my eyes and swung my legs over the bed. Reaching for my nightstand, I grabbed my glasses. "I have my last one today before I head home for Spring Break."

"Okay, see you when you come back then." Sarah kicked off her shoes and jumped on her bed. She laid down and draped her arm over her eyes. "I'm done with midterms, so make sure you lock the door on the way out."

"Sure." I muttered.

I glanced at the alarm clock to see I had about an hour and a half before my midterm started. With that thought, I quickly got dressed.

I passed the Hawkins sign and headed towards the cemetery. My heart grew heavy knowing who I was going to visit today. When I finally arrived, I went to visit Danny's grave first.
