"I thought Hermes was a bad father. I thought he abandoned Luke because he knew his future and didn't do anything to stop it. But he knew more than just the bad stuff. Lukes mom saw it too. Hermes understood what Luke would do in the end. That he'd make the right choice. But he couldn't tell him," says Percy to the gods.
"No one can tamper with fate. Not even a god. If I'd tried to warn him or influence his choices it would have only made things worse. Staying silent... staying away from him... that was the hardest thing I've ever done," Hermes says.
"Luke will be remembered as a hero Hermes. I decree it," Zeus says, "that brings us to the matter of thanking our demigods heroes. Thalia Grace. You led the hunters of Artemis with distinction. Many were lost, and i will aid you myself in refilling their ranks. All who died will be forever remembered in elysium."
"Thank you father," Thalia says.
"Tyson son of poseidon. For your bravery in war, you are appointed a general in the armies of Olympus. You shall henceforth lead you cyclops brethren into battle whenever required by the gods," Zeus says.
"Hooray!" Tyson yells.
"Grover Underwood. For your bravery and sacrifice, you are appointed to the council of cloven elders. All satyrs and nature spirits will henceforth treat you as lord of the wild," Zeus says.
"Um... really?" Asks grover awestruck.
"Nico Di Angelo, you accomplished much. For guiding Percy and showing the foresight to understand that the world of the living can't live without the realm of the dead-" Zeus starts but he's cut off by Nico.
"If it's all the same, Zeus, dad and I will work it out together," says Nico.
Zeus shakes his head and moves on.
"Annabeth Chase, you have exceeded all expectations. Your wits, your strength, and your courage made our victory possible. Olympus suffered much damage in battle. As official architect of Olympus, you will lead in rebuilding and make this city a monument for eons," Zeus says.
Annabel face lights up as she mumbles about ideas.
"Percy and Phoebe step up," our dad says.
Percy and I cautiously step up to our fathers feet.
"Great heroes must be rewarded. Is there anyone here who would deny my children deserving?" Asks our dad.
"The council agrees. You two will have one gift. The greatest gift of all. One hat hasn't been bestowed in many centuries. You both will be made god. Immortal. Undying. Serving at your fathers side for all time," Zeus says.
At first the idea was exciting to I begin to realize this means leaving my friend and leaving Travis. I knew Percy wouldn't do this without me though. I look at him and in his eyes they says he didn't want to do it.
"No," him and I say in unison. For once I was ok with it.
"No? You are turning down this generous gift?" Asks Zeus.
"We want to choose our own gift," Percy says.
I have a feeling I know where he's going with this. And I was ok with it.
"From now in, I want you all to properly recognize the children of the gods. Of all the gods," Percy says.
"This is most unpredicted," Zeus says.
"Kronos wouldn't have risen if it hadn't been for a lot of demigods who felt abandoned by their parents. Luke most all," Percy says.
"So no more undetermined children. I want you promise to claim your children by the time they turn thirteen. They'll be brought to camp and trained to know who they are and how to survive,"I say, "no unclaimed demigods will be crammed into the Hermes cabin anymore, wondering who their parent is. They'll have their own cabins. Even hades," I say looking at Nico.
"Every child of every god will be welcomed and respected," Percy says.
"Hmph. Being told what to do by a mere child. But I suppose... all gods in favor?" Zeus yells.
All the gods stand up putting their hand in the air. Percy hugs me and smile broader than I've ever seen before.
"Immortality sound boring anyhow," I say.
"Yah, being stuck with you for all eternity sounds awful. Besides I'm already practically invincible," Percy says.
"I'm still mad you did that without tell me," I say.
"I'm sorry," he says.
"No your not. Now let's get back to camp," I say.
