Frank was shooting down the harpies as we entered Greece. I was keeping watch from the deck.
"There!" Nico says pointing towards a glittering green river, "Maneuver that way! We're close to the temple. Very close."
More black lightning ripples through the sky. Jason come up next to my side. If we were going to to lead this group we had to do it together.
"Everyone arm yourselves. Leo get us close to land but no more contact with the ground that necessary. Piper, Hazel, get the mooring ropes," I say.
"On it," Piper responds.
The two girls rush off.
"Frank," Jason says, "get below deck and find coach hedge."
"Yep!"
Frank rushes down the stairs. We had the whole group working.
"Your brother would be really proud of your leadership," Jason says.
"Thanks," I say looking out at clouds.
We fly for a while and watch the crew work. Supervising if you will. We kept flying until we'd found the source of the darkness.
A little bit away at the top of the nearest hill stood a cluster of ruins. I watched a bolt of darkness ripple through the air rocking the ship.
"The Nectomanteion," nico says, "The house of hades."
We keep following the stream. I see some fishing boats in the river. Must be nice being a regular mortal.
Nico was standing next to me holding the scepter.
"You do know how to work that thing, don't you?" I asks.
"We'll find out," he says, "I don't intend to try until I have to. The doors of death are already working overtime bringing in Gaea's monsters. Any more activity raising the dead, and the doors might shatter permanently, leaving a rip in the mortal world that can never be fixed."
Coach grunted, "I hat rips in the world. Let's go bust some monster butt."
"Coach you should stay on board, cover us with the ballistae," Frank says.
"Stay behind? But I'm your best soldier!"
"We might need air support," Frank says, "Like we did in Rome. You saved our braccae."
(Just for the record braccae is Roman fir trousers.)
"Well," coach says, "I suppose somebody's got to save you guy."
I wonder why coach gave in so easily.
Jason claps coach on the shoulder and gives frank and appreciative smile, "So now that that's settled, everybody else lets go to the ruins."
"Time crash Gaea's party," I say exiting the ship.
